       Wasps sign another AB

I thought we had the link with All Blacks. Just announced Wasps
have signed Jeff Toomaga-Allen a prop from Hurricanes. Add that
to Sapoonga, Fekitoa and Brad Shields that makes 4. Not sure
there will be any left for us.
Although I thought it was going to be younger players we were
supposed to be getting but no sign of any yet.
Will we get any do you think.. discuss!

You have a point there. Hopefully someone good from NZ will come
our way! As long as it’s not Zac Guildford. I’m going to call it
now and put my bets on Aaron Smith wearing the famous quarters
once Care either moves on or retires

       RFU regulations contain the statement
       13.4.3 Foreign Players
At Levels 4 and above, a Club may not play or select
       as a replacement or substitute
more than two Foreign Players in any match
Now I know European players - including Scots Welsh and Irish -
       are not foreign.
And European then extends to 'Kolpak'.
But I did not believe that extended to NZ.

Why would any Kiwi come because of a deal with quins. When this
was announced I did not see how it would work or what the
benefits would be. A player will go where he wants to go which
will to a large extent be determined by salary and prospects.
Any link between the Ab and Quins will not be of any
       consideration ion his thinking.

No. ALL EU players count as "home" - at least until March 29th.
Kolpak is a ruling that extends that to countries with whom the
EU has a significant trading relationship, which I believe
includes SA, NZ and Aus but not Argentina or PI.
However, the RFU bonus applies only for EQPs.

Unless, for example, NZ waive their "you must play in NZ to get
selected" rule for players at the EU club(s) they have a deal
       with?

Not quite, Kolpak covers South Africa and the Pacific Islands.
Players from Aus or NZ are either deemed "foreign" or have some
kind of ancestry in either a Kolpak country or EU. So Andrew
Mehrtens used his SA ancestry (grandfather I think it was) to
qualify as Kolpak - thus leaving us free to have another
"foreign" player on the field if we needed to...
I'd guess the same is true of Wasps' NZ contingent - most of
them will have some other passport that qualifies them as
       "non-foreign".

Either way, come the Brexit that the foaming angry old men on
this board so desire - this all goes out the window. So we’ll
       see.

Does it count if players are already signed though??? I heard
something regarding a few counties (cricket) are looking at
getting their Kolpack players signed up on longer deals to
       prevent any issues???

Because if the choice is excellent money at Quins, with regular
contact with AB coaches, player management that suits NZ, and
potentially selection on tours, vs being cut off by the ABs in
       return for even more money...
