Dombrandt gives us some go forward that we've missed for a
       while.

Pretty good match, try bonus point secured pretty early on, but
conceded tries under pressure too easily.
Ward's discipline again an issue only on as a sub and yellow
       carded

Our attack was brilliant in the first half. Lots of inspiration
and creativity. Defence was a bit porous!
Second half we tightened up well and kept going. Some odd
decisions from the ref at the breakdown and a few things missed.
We weren't 'hanging on' but it was quite close. They were going
for it as it was their last chance to progress.
A good performance and a good atmosphere, all in all. Can we get
a win in Agen? Fingers crossed!

Far from an 80 minute performance but really pleased with the
result and how the team dealt with the periods where things
weren’t going well. Last season we’d lrobably have found a way
       to lose that.
Special mention to Dombrandt for chasing down the Grenoble 23 in
the 79th minute. Great effort from the man with the “uni rig”.

Didn't affect the game unduly as we scored soon afterwards, but
the touch judge not identifying that Kunatani had scored his try
in the first half was pretty pathetic.

A few thoughts now I'm back from the game:
Seemed to me that Wallace was a lot more involved than
previously after he came on. Looked to tackle and jackal at
       every opportunity.
I pity the poor Grenoble 22 after he was tackled by the brick
       outhouse that is Ibuanopke!
DC's decision making as Captain was a lot better than the season
       where he *was* captain.
Ward's yellow card for the high tackle was the Ref's decision
alone (no consultation with ARs or TMO. Did his "reputation"
count against him? Who can say.
Ref missed a couple of wayward line-out throws that were
distinctly not straight for both sides. His advantage &
advantage over calls were a lot different to a Prem Rugby ref
(calling advantage over before the team with the ball has passed
beyond the line where the infringement had occurred for
       instance).
Dombrandt is surely up for Discovery of the Season in any team.
We struggled to contain their maul, which given we were
improving in that area is a bit worrying.
Grenoble in the 2nd half were doing what we did in our
Premiership-winning season: Flooding the channel with receivers
on a breakthrough. That meant there was always someone on hand
to offload to as a player is tackled, causing our defence all
the sorts of problems we used to cause otheres. We should've
       spotted that.
I'd say that the performance was about a 6.5 out of ten. We let
them start the game at speed, pulled the first half back to a
decent lead with the bonus point in the bag, then let them push
us harder than the scoreline suggests. We know we can do better,
& have seen that this season even in games we've lost (e.g.
       Sarries).
As for this competition, we're in by far the toughest pool.
Until today, all 4 teams could have been the pool winner, where
other pools have already got clear winners & losers. In some
ways this might be better for us (if we qualify) as we will have
been properly tested, whereas other teams will have been able to
run up cricket scores against the likes of Timisoara &
Enisei-STM, not that I begrudge them their places in the
competition as I think it's good for the sport that teams in the
level below have a pathway for playing with the bigger boys. As
things stand, Our pool has been Home wins only. However, I think
that may change next week. There's no way for either Agen or
Grenoble to qualify even as one of the "best 3 runners up". Yes,
they're both playing at home, but the fact that they're out of
the competition may mean their coaches have more of an eye on
the Top 14. Grenoble and Agen sit 12th & 13th in the Top 14
table on 20 & 17 points respectively. The way promotion &
relegation works, the 14th placed is automatically relegated,
while the 13th place team plays off against the second placed
team in the ProD2. While Perpignan seem destined for the
automatic relegation, Grenoble and Agen are at real risk of
being the other team embroiled in that tussle, so they may
decide to rest key players next week for what are effectively
dead rubbers & concentrate more on the Top14.

This has been the case in other Challenge Cup matches, seems
pretty poor that it cannot be arranged, presumably because none
of the TV companies are providing any coverage.

Hmmm, looking in the programme, there's none listed, so maybe
there wasn't one. It's a definite oversight by EPCR, as there's
enough going on in any game to need to check things back...

BT Sport don't cover every Premiership game, but there's a TMO
       at every game...
