       Warriors Bath Yellow Cards
   DIR By: Chipstead Quin

Im sure most saw the unusual end to the game , Bath end up with
       11 due to a red and 3 yellows at 83 , 87 and 94 mins
I don't understand why at least 1 Bath player wasnt allowed back
on , as I understand , a Yellow card is for 10 minutes of
playing time . he was carded at 83 mins but the game went on to
       98 ?
If it had been in the first half any time played over the 40
mins is counted so why not at the end of the 2nd half?
My best guess is that cards over 80 are deemed final because law
makers hadn't anticipated games to go over 90 mins , but that's
       clearly not the case .
Any friendly refs that can help ?

Didn't something similat happen in a Wales v France 6 nations
game with the Welsh player coming back on even when sin binned
after the 80 mins had passed.

I think that there was a lot of stoppage time in between play
and that there hadn't actually been 10 minutes of play so none
of the yellow cards had elapsed.

The clock doesn't stop in over time so actually only 6+ minutes
of actual play, there were lots of stoppages in the 19 mins

Yes , that what made me think about it , it was Wayne Barnes'
100 minute match in 2017- not sure the Welsh have forgiven him
       yet though .

The key difference there of course being that Bath didn't try to
manipulate proceedings to force uncontested scrums, which is
what the French did. Rather admirable in a Charge of the Light
       Brigade sort of way.

I read that Tempest stopped the clock after every scrum (and I
think you can see that from the tv coverage) so there was not 10
minutes actual playing time so they coulkd not come back on.

Thanks to stoquin and jjquin, that would answer it -
Presumably that means that if it had gone on to 10mins of
playing time after Lahiff had been carded he could have come
       back on .?
But who was counting that ? , it certainly isnt very
transparent after the 80 mins is up is it ?

Yeah, not sure why there has to be a different rule on stopping
the clock after 80. For consistency just continue to stop the
       clock!

There should have been a penalty try earlier on anyway really.
If after the final Brew yellow they had failed to score, or
missed the conversion, the refusal to give a penalty try despite
a 3-0 overlap would have been criticised I think.
Fair play to tempest though for having the guts to give those
cards, all correctly imo. Most refs I reckon would have bottled
it. Good to see him get that right after two poor TMO decisions
in the Wasps and Tigers games.
