Yeah I don't think either side usually cover themselves in glory
in this fixture. For a while we were incredibly dirty whenever
Joe Simpson was around. Recently we've had Nathan Hughes being a
one man cheap shot machine, and Kyle Eastmond's headhunting. Now
Dave Ward, and this elbow I didn't see...
Great, isn't it?

I’m glad it’s not like the good old days when rugby was a bit
rough. I’m sure all you rugby players out there know what it’s
really like in a game. I suspect that some people would be
shocked if they knew. Just remember to call the officials Sir
and you’ll bo ok.

One way to stop the potential for such injuries would be to
outlaw jumping up for the ball - you must catch with your feet
on the ground. I know this will be contentious, but if safety is
the overriding concern...
Also, when scrums deteriorate and a free kick is awarded, you
can re-set (sometimes with the same result, leading to a
penalty) or you can kick - likely with loss of possession - or
tap - lottery. Why not re-set 10ms from the point of the
infringement (unless already 5m form try line) - at least
offending side are then penalised with loss of territory...

A lot of law changes have seemed odd over the years but are
usually for the better. I still miss the line outs of the
amateur era though. As jumping in the air to catch the ball has
effectively killed any challenge (ref dependenant) the feet on
the floor rule Bolly-quin suggests is excellent.
