should Titi and Williams, who are both former internationals.
That so many of them aren't is a concern. Either we're terrible
at identifying good props to recruit, or we're not making the
most of them when they're here. I'm not saying Bomb is to blame.
I have no idea how much say he has on recruitment. But it does
suggest his reputation for being a brilliant scrum coach may not
       be fully justified.

I think it is hard to make a judgement on Jones' effect on
Williams and to a slightly lesser extend on Titi.
Both have been unavailable for so long, that we have no idea
what their technique is currently like.

Doesn't Joe have commitments with Myomaster too?

Sadly i suspect we know precisely what Titi’s technique is like
as he burrows his way towards middle-earth…

I don't think anyone was particularly excited when we signed
titi or Williams. I was equally underwhelmed by signing an
Aussie prop I've never heard of and random saffa playing 3rd
       tier rugby.
We had some superb props in marler, louw and collier, sinck too
back in the day. Seems plausible that jones was mainly good at
adding some finishing touches to already good players. That's a
different prospect from turning average players into good ones

I may be misremembering but did Bomb convert BFA from 3 to 1?
       Seems to have worked

With Williams and Titi under contract this season, along with
Delgado, and Streeter already here, to then sign those two is a
bit baffling. I get its an attritional position. The Saffa I'm
interested about to see if he could be a hidden gem, but hes
been nowhere to be seen so far. Surely the wages on
Johnson-Holmes would have been better to have in a pot
elsewhere? I was hoping we were moving away from the quantity
       over quality approach.

The club posted a photo of him a few days ago (Mon 28th Sept)
saying that he has only just arrived.

You need quantity in front rowers. The champions, Saints, have
12 props in the squad. 4 of them are on short term contracts. I
don't know if all ours are on long term contracts but the
numbers are basically the same. I think clubs will often cast
around for props and cycle through some hopefuls, because it's
the one position where you can unearth a hidden gem given the
unique requirements. Mike Ross was picked up like that and he
       turned out alright

Also, HJH supposedly plays both LH and TH. Remains to be seen
how well, of course, but assuming he can hold his own on both
sides of the scrum, that's invaluable across the season - he
effectively covers two of the most attritional positions.
I'm excited to see what Swiegers can do - he's got the physique,
hopefully he's the next Wilco Louw.
