I am not an Anderson fan, but he has been pretty good in the
Prem Cup games, Isgro may be due to his international time in
the summer, Don’t get Porter over Friday however.

Anderson was really good at the end of last season, too. He
tackles hard and he takes his opportunities. He's no Murley, of
course, and he maybe doesn't have the same high ceiling as other
players, but he'll hold up his end.
I guess they're trying to protect Friday a little. He's still
really young, and he's played a lot last season and in the U20s.
It wasn't so long ago, too, that Porter looked like our future
prospect. Hopefully he'll have a good season. I still like
Friday better, though, for speed and vision.

Selection makes sense to me. Not many people give us any hope of
a win. We start with a steady team who do a good job. If we're
still in it at half time, we bring on strong replacements. If
anyone needs replacing prior to that, it be arguably with an
upgrade.
I wouldn't write us off. A win would be the best outcome, but a
strong performance is what we really need.

Fair point about Friday he is very young and had a horrible
injury, the two together in whatever proportion is still very
good, Anderson is actually improving and his level is
consistent.
His career was derailed by Wasps self destructing, and he may
have a bit more headroom yet, his early appearances were very
underwhelming and I have let that influence my opinion, which is
now changing.

Well, we'll get a good view of our new defence strategy and how
effective it might be 😁

Let's not forget that we're starting a new 3 year plan this
autumn.

It's still a very good bath team, but not seeing Du Toit and Van
Vyk waiting to come off the bench after 50 minutes does make it
look a bit less intimidating. If anything our bench is arguably
slightly stronger.
How Anderson gets picked over a puma international remains one
of lifes mysteries but i think we just need to trust the coaches
to know better than us on that one.
The fixture list hasn't landed massively in our favour but I'm
choosing to remain optimistic for the next 30 hours or so.
Looking forward to it anyway.

I'm relaxed as to whether it's Porter or Friday starting. They
both inject pace and speed of ball and we can maintain that
approach for 80mins with the two of them.
Can't get my head around Anderson starting.
A lot of responsibility on Slevin with no recognised kicking
option outside of him. Bellamy at 15 (and Green or Isgro ahead
of Anderson on the wing) would take some of the pressure off.
And I will die on this hill.... Murley is a class act but a back
three player cannot be an effective captain. Stationed too far
away from the action to influence and respectfully challenge
officials at the crucial moments. A complete waste.

Seeing the starting XVs I can only think they’ll be out of sight
by the time the benches can make a difference. However having
watched two games so far I do have some hope that our defence is
much improved, we are able to capitalise on breaks and their
errors. I’d also like to see us take early points on offer.
All that said one thing never waivers and that’s my support for
the players on the pitch.
COYQ give us something to cheer and the others something to
watch out for.
