Yep fair enough. I know as much about the Glasgow squad as I do
about, well, most things.

I've been really encouraged by the performance in the last 2
games (I couldn't attend the Tigers game). There's a genuine
cohesion in attack and some creative delayed passing putting
runners through space together with a tenacity and determination
in defence (particularly when down to 14 men against Saints)
that was not present all of last season. I can only put this
down to the refreshed coaching team as the squad composition
hasn't changed much. Like others I was disappointed by CCS who
doesn't seem to have the power in contact of a couple of years
ago. but I'm really encouraged by some of the youngsters who the
Club seem to believe are our future - take a bow Browne,
Staples, Williams, Carr, Bellamy & Kerr in particular. I'm not
sure it will be enough for a Top 4 finish this year but the
future is bright and I think it could be a very exciting ride
for the next couple of seasons. I'm even going to place a small
bet on a win against Bath next week as I have a feeling we might
just catch them cold at home

I am not convinced that CCS is match fit, but the opposition
also knows that he is going to look for contact every carry, he
needs to vary his game a bit, he was double teamed in virtually
every carry yesterday.
Just smashing into people and trying to break tackles is not
going to work, even smashing into people and looking to offload
would stress the defence more.
When he first came to us he was breaking tackles and making
ground, the opposition obviously now know his game more, but he
still just doesn’t look fit, hopefully the talented young
players will raise the established players games, but at the
moment CCS does not look like a starter, I like him as a player,
and hopefully it is just fitness and lack of game time.

CCS has often been better off the bench rather than a starter.
When defences are tired, he can use his strength to make meters.
It's not a terrible thing that the opposition double-teams him,
because that can help overload the defence, but that's only
useful if he's used more as a dummy runner and sometimes
offloads when he carries.

I am sure I have read a recent article where he said he has
bulked up over the summer, if that is the case could it partly
be muscle and partly 'timber' and the extra weight (for whatever
reason) has slowed him down a bit? Extra muscle isn't always the
answer to improved performance if explosive power is wanted (if
that is not counter intuitive).

He was used that way by London Irish and by us in his first
season, but he also used a bit of footwork to make the tackle
more difficult, not a Marcus or even Hobson type sidestep but
changing the point of contact.
I think he is just lacking game time and a bit of fitness, and
agree anytime you can suck in two players leaves space,
especially if you can get the ball out of the tackle.

I watched this game as there wasnt much else on. Bath fully
loaded Glasgow kids rather than a 2nds or 3rds team. It was
pretty even till half time with Bath hugely cynical and giving
away lots of penalties rather than concede. Had Glasgow taken
points rather than continued to attack they probably would have
gone in at 40 trailing by a score or less.
Second half the kids got replaced by fetuses and they were blown
away.

Agree with this FAF, but I also remember that England v
Australia game that we lost because Marcus couldn't tackle a
17st bloke with a 3 on 1 against him (tongue firmly in cheek)
CCS was brilliant in the first half, running good lines, busting
through and two tries. I'd like to see that performance more but
as Brownie & Tyrone eventually learned, if you vary your game
plan, you get more success.
