A fairly scrappy game with lots of mistakes from both sides and
a pernickety ref.
Scrum is going well, defence has been energetic and forced lots
of mistakes from Embra (while still needing a tune up on
positioning).
The attack has been a bit inconsistent, but Quins' tries have
been impressive when they've found their rhythm, and Marcus
closed out the first half with a solo effort in broken play that
ended with him dragging four defenders over the line.

Goodness me the 5 mins before he went off, CCS stunk the place
out. He doesn’t look fit to me.

A fairly decent win in the end. The replacements looked a bit
more coherent, which is not a surprise as most of them have had
two pre-season games already, but we have some strong players
coming through there.
Our defence looks organised and solid, too.
A few lineout wobbles again, but better than last week.
All-in-all, satisfying, and a more promising pre-season than
last year.

That team looked young, keen, and full of promise.
Hobson seems to forget he's a prop at times, it's great to see
him in the loose. Carr is going to be a very good player, and
Tate Williams might not be the biggest, but what an athlete.
I'm genuinely very optimistic for this season.

We look so much more committed than last year, everyone was at
least good, except CCS who just didn’t look fit, the line out is
still a bit of a lottery, and I hope that Furbank is not jinxed.
Nice to actually be looking forward to the season, not expecting
miracles that may take another year, but it just looks so much
better.

Having watched 2 games now, it’s clear to see the difference the
clear out and change of voices is having. Let’s hope the league
games continue with better performances.

I'm not holding out much hope for next weekend's game - Bath
hosed Glasgow away last night 9 tries to 1. If we can somehow
remain composed and connected throughout the game and give a
good physical account of ourselves then that would be something.

To be fair Bath went pretty well full strength while the Glasgow
side was lacking a majority of first choices and was more of a
pre season game squad. Though I suspect they maybe too strong
for us, but last year we were well up at half time before our
usual 3rd quarter meltdown. Living in hope rather than
expectation for next Friday.
