He does indeed placekick with his right, but kicks from open
play with both feet, his touch depends on what gives the best
angle.
Yesterday his place kicking was bad, but is usually better, Sean
Kerr is a very decent kicker and took placekicks for England U20
when they won the U20 world championship.
Bellamy is a good backup to Marcus and Kerr offers something
different at inside centre to our other options.

Agreed.
No-one cares too much about the Prem Cup, but after last season,
generating some early positivity and momentum is important.
The good thing is that it’s been won fairly too. One of the
things I hate about the Prem Cup is when one team treats it like
a first team game and others play mix and match sides. If we’d
beaten Tigers’ and Saints’ reserve sides with our first team it
would have devalued the wins, but I think we can chalk these up
as good exposure for our squad and a bit of a hit out for some
of our first team.
Hopefully, we can carry the feel good factor through to the
start of he real deal season.

Some takeaways the day after the game:
Crowd was good for a prem cup game without the available first
teamers named.
Bradley is a very very good defender
Kerr will have a big role this year too
Our lineout will be our Achilles heel unless the thrower and
jumpers get in sync. Musk has never been great with the arrows
but Walker usually more accurate.
Cam Anderson hits harder than I expected
Bellamy will be more of a 15 than a 10. Didn’t look much of a
communicator (and his place kicking issue). Didn’t really
command his line. But he’s got a cracking step.
Schmidt is a good replacement.
Evans is a cut above - he really must be starting most weeks. As
well as his turnover rate, he is a useful ball carrier.
Lots to be optimistic about.

For much of last season, turning up became a bit of a chore. The
good performances were few and far between and the truly awful
performances were many. Yes, it's the prem cup and tougher
challenges await but I've thoroughly enjoyed the performances
over the last couple of weekends.
Saints will absolutely wonder how they threw that performance
away, but unusually, their basics were worse than ours outside
of the set piece. The defence was committed, attack seemed to
have a plan, and while it wasn't as slick as last week, the
result was pleasing. Playing with 14 for the last 10+ minutes
and coming out in credit on the scoresheet is something that
just wouldn't have happened last year. Particularly as Saints
unleashed McParland, Dingwall and Hendy in the second half!
The downside was the enforced replacement of Povey, Lang, Sharp
and Bowman. Sharp was the only one who had long enough to make
an impact and he looked a real pacey handful. It's just nice to
come away from these games with a sense of optimism rather than
trepidation. If the attitude from these two games carries over,
I'll be much happier watching the performances, even if the
results don't necessarily follow.

The prize money is probably not as important to us as it to some
of the other teams, is about 1/60th of our revenue.
Whereas for Sale it is a 1/20th.
The competition needs to to regulated with a minimum number of
academy players, to prevent clubs just fielding their first
teams in the later stages of the competition, should be a
development vehicle and the players that play in the early
stages, should play the final if their club gets there.
At present it just seems to have replaced having preseason
friendly matches.

distribute money equally. 😁

angle." - Strange yesterday when we had a penalty right in
front of us on Saints 22 and he kicked to the left hand touch
with his left foot and missed touch all together giving Saints
an easy clearance.

True. But I don’t think we can say that makes a Prem Cup win 3x
as financially valuable.
From what I can see Jillings and Saville have a combined net
worth of £50-100millon.
The Oranges are listed at £1.25billion ie 12-20x. And we know
they’re not in it for the profit.
