Harlequins have named their matchday 23 to take on Northampton
Saints in Round 2 of the PREM Rugby Cup at The Stoop (Saturday
       12 September, KO 16:45).
Will Evans captains Harlequins for the first time on Saturday in
a side that includes James Lang at outside centre after
re-signing with the Club for the 2026/27 season earlier this
       week.
Lang is partnered with the incoming Sean Kerr in the centres.
Elsewhere in the backline, Cameron Anderson comes in on the
right wing, which sees Nick David shift to fullback and Theo
Povey retains his spot on the left after a two-try display in
       last weekend's victory over Tigers.
Stu Townsend and Josh Bellamy form a new-look halfback
       partnership for the Cup contest.
In the pack, Sitiveni Vasuturaga will make his first start in
the Quarters. The Army Rugby Union prop made his debut from the
bench last weekend in Round 1 as Will Hobson continues in the
loosehead side, and Jack Musk is named at hooker.
In the engine room, Jonny Green and Kieran Treadwell pack down
at lock. Quins' back row is made up of skipper Evans at
openside, Lucas Schmid at number 8 and short-term signing Jake
       Spurway on the blindside.
Jason Gilmore has opted for a five-three split amongst his
impact players. Jack Walker, Jamie Miller and short-term prop
signing Osman Dimen cover the front row, while Harry Browne and
Leo Dickinson provide further cover to pack.
Scrum-half summer recruit Alfie Bowman and Academy product Sean
Sharp are both in line to make their debuts at The Stoop, with
Bryn Bradley completing the matchday 23.
Tickets remain on sale for Saturday's fixture from £20 for
Adults and £10 for Under-18s. Click here to purchase.
Supporters are reminded that the Club have launched Digital
Ticketing ahead of the 2026/27 season, which will be in-effect
       this weekend.
Season Ticket Members and Match Ticket Purchasers must download
the Harlequins Official App to access their tickets and add to
their mobile wallet ahead of arrival at The Stoop. Click here
for more information and step-by-step guides.

Dingwall leads Northampton in Cup clash at Quins
Fraser Dingwall will lead Northampton Saints for the first time
since being made the Club’s captain, skippering the side as they
face Harlequins in Round 2 of the PREM Rugby Cup this weekend.
Saints take to Twickenham Stoop on Saturday (12 September,
kick-off: 4.45pm) in front of the TNT cameras, and round out
this first block of Cup matches against a Quins side that
currently sits second in Group B.
Harlequins defeated Leicester Tigers 45-21 in Round 1, whereas
Saints were beaten 96-42 by an experienced Saracens side in
their opening clash of the tournament.
This weekend, Director of Rugby Phil Dowson rings the changes to
his line-up – with 12 new faces coming into Saints’ matchday 23
for Round 2’s trip to the Stoop.
Dingwall provides the only change in Northampton’s backline,
with the England centre coming in to join Toby Thame in the
       centres against Harlequins.
James Pater – who scored one of Saints’ six tries last weekend –
continues on at fullback this week, with James Martin and Thomas
Rowe again taking their places on the wings, and scrum-half
Jonny Weimann and fly-half Hugh Shields carry on their half-back
       partnership at the Stoop.
A first appearance in a Saints shirt comes for Jordan Els
against his former side Quins, with the loosehead prop to become
Saint #2140 as he starts alongside incoming duo of hooker Craig
Wright and tighthead prop Cleopas Kundiona in the front row.
Ed Prowse and Tom Pearson are both set for their first
appearances of the season as they start in the second and back
rows respectively, while Tom Lockett, Aiden Ainsworth-Cave and
one of Saints’ new signings, Josh Taylor, start alongside them
       in the pack.
Northampton’s bench boasts a blend of experience and youth, with
the likes of Henry Walker, JJ Van Der Mescht, Archie McParland
and George Hendy all set to feature among the replacements
alongside Saints’ younger stars Sonny Tonga’uiha, Jack Lewis,
Freddie St John and a potential debutant in prop Aiden Reid.

Good to welcome Jordan Els back to the Stoop; looks as if Saints
have also gone for a blend of youth and experience so could be a
       fun match.

At least our scrum will go forward for once!

Less fluid game this week. Still some positives, but Sir is more
sympathetic to Saints' breakdown approach than Quins' and it's
led to conceding too much territory.
Lots of handling errors considering the conditions, though a
fair few have been forced by some crunching tackles from both
       sides.
12-14 at half time. Here's hoping for a more joined up second
       half from Quins

Apart from a try disallowed because WEv was taken out off the
ball by a player on the floor, it's been mostly Quins in the
       second half.
22-14 with 9 minutes to go, but Quins are down to 14 through
injuries in the backs. It's going to be a tough end to the game,
but they are showing a lot of heart and grit

But Saints are rattled. A second try held up.over the line leads
to a knock on in midfield that the ref converts to a penalty for
Quins (I think for diving on the ball) and after a bit of to and
from, Bellamy sees some space and skins three or four players to
       score under the posts.
       29-14

Decent result. Rather more injuries in the backs that is ideal.
I think we lost 4? Hopefully all minor.
More worrying is our terrible lineout. But Musk and Walker lost
two each, IIRC. The scrum wasn't perfect, but that'll be sorted
out with props coming back in, but those are two of our main
hookers who can't manage to get the ball in the right place in a
lineout. We can hardly rely on Riley for the whole season.
