All teams had injuries. I've never understood why people think
they affect Quins more than other teams. It's a poor excuse.

We had far more injuries than other teams last season.
I do think the coaching team should be accountable for that, I
don’t believe it was just bad luck.
With the appointment of Corey Bocking as Head of Athlete Health
and Development this year, and a rearranged team beneath him, I
hope there will be a more normal number of injuries this season,
making Quins less disadvantaged than last season.

Can you back that up?
The reason I commented is that I've heard it so many times
before.

I was convinced of it last season but I’m not going to go back
through all of the teams injury lists to confirm. All the
commentators were saying so at the back end of the season. Can’t
say I did a forensic analysis of it.

It wasn’t so much the absolute number of injuries as the
concentration of injuries in certain positions. We were down to
academy props and borrowed scrum halves by the end of the
season.

Yareet did his usual devil's advocate thing about Sale having
injuries too but no, ours were genuinely worse. Longer injuries
to more key players and a big run in a bunch of important
positions.
Side note, I watched a video from some guy called Rugby Analyst
who I guess worked for the rugby paper and his analysis was also
just "list of people in, list of people out" with no attempt to
talk about players coming through from the academies or players
available after long injuries or anything except the judging of
incoming quality vs outgoing. Boring.

I don’t take much notice of those clickbait rating articles but
I’m still not sure how that squad is significantly better than
last year. We are missing genuine hard men who will run through
walls in the freezing cold, scare the oppo and play through the
pain. When Quins are good, they have people like Minty, Big Mo,
Marler, Kohn, Andre, Wilco, JTH etc. our current lot are all a
bit ‘nice’.

On the flip side, they also raved about your back row but
included Dombrandt. 😬

FWIW, I fully agree that you probably had more injuries than
most. But that could be because I follow Quins’ news more than
most teams.

We did have a lot more injuries of first- and second-preference
players than other teams. The list of injuries, particularly
towards the end of the season, was becoming farcical. But there
was a lot more reason for us losing than just injuries. Complete
lack of plan, structure, and basic skills.
