Seb Driscoll in training for Harlequins out in Jersey
Harlequins have named their first matchday 23 of the season
ahead of their PREM Rugby Cup Round 1 clash with Leicester
Tigers on Saturday 5 September (KO 15:00).
Following the squad’s return from a five-day training camp in
Jersey, Jason Gilmore has named Seb Driscoll as captain for
Saturday’s Cup contest. The back rower will lead a side
featuring several debutants, alongside a number of senior
players who missed the latter stages of last season through
       injury.
In the front row, Australian summer signing Harry Johnson-Holmes
is set to make his Harlequins debut at tighthead, with Will
Hobson starting at loosehead and experienced hooker Jack Walker
       completing the front row.
James Dun will also make his bow at The Stoop, starting in the
       second row alongside Harry Browne.
Skipper Driscoll starts at openside, with Jack Kenningham named
at blindside and Lucas Schmid returning to action at number
       eight.
Will Porter is paired with Connor Slevin at halfback, while Bryn
Bradley and Oscar Beard form the centre partnership.
In the backfield, Theo Povey starts on the left wing, with Nick
David on the right and Tyrone Green returns to the starting XV
       at fullback.
There is a five-three split among the Impact Players named in
the wider matchday squad, with three players set to make their
Harlequins debuts when introduced at The Stoop.
Gunner Sitiveni Vasuturaga (Royal Artillery) will make his
Harlequins debut on Saturday. The Army Rugby Union prop has
signed a short-term contract for the opening round of the PREM
Rugby Cup after training with the squad throughout pre-season.
Second-year Senior Academy hooker Ashton Graham is also set to
make his first appearance when introduced, while first-year
Senior Academy back rower and England Under-18 international Leo
Dickinson is in line to make his debut.
Jamie Miller and Jonny Green provide further cover in the pack,
while Stuart Townsend, Josh Bellamy and Sean Kerr are set to
make their first appearances of the season.
Tickets remain on sale for Saturday's fixture from £20 for
Adults and £10 for Under-18s. Click here to purchase.
Supporters are reminded that the Club have launched Digital
Ticketing ahead of the 2026/27 season, which will be in-effect
       from this weekend.
Season Ticket Members and Match Ticket Purchasers must download
the Harlequins Official App to access their tickets and add to
their mobile wallet ahead of arrival at The Stoop. Click here

Would of been good going in, start of the season, with all guns
blazing. Nice day in the sun anyway.

I wonder if Vunipola can still hack it. Anyone seen him play
       lately?

Could he ever "hack it" at scrum time? He had a few years of
being a very mobile, flashy international prop... who rarely
gained parity at the set piece.

He wasn't the strongest scrummager at international level, but
we're not talking international here. Can he hack it as a prem
       player?

He was really strong in his last Vannes game against Provence,
not as visible in the loose as he was at Saracens, but very good
in the scrum, will be interesting how he gets on in the Prem,
last 20 will be his role I suspect.

It's interesting to watch that, isn't it, and see just how much
more popular rugby is in France. There are plenty of Prem teams
who can't pull in a crowd like that, and certainly no teams in
       the championship can.
