We have a fair number of wings, although to be fair not all of
them are exclusively wingers. They can play in a variety of
positions across the back line. According to the Quins site, we
have Anderson, Beard, Cleaves, David, Green, Isgro, Kolade,
McMillan, Murley and now Siguake. Of those, Green is primarily a
full back, and Beard, Kolade and McMillan are primarily centres.
That's a decent number to cover those positions, and most won't
get much game time on the wing because of how many.
I'm not sure why we've gone back to the Anderson hate. He was
very good when called on last season. No, he's not as good as
Murley, but you can't have every winger as good as that. Isgro
is a bit of a mystery. He started quite well last season but
lost form (but then the whole team lost form), and he's been
decent quality for Argentina. Hopefully we can see the good side
of him again this coming season.

Assuming you mean Isgro, from what I can see he last played 7s
in the '24 Olympics. Since the start of the 24/25 season, he's
played 25 club games (incl. 2 sub appearances) and 15 Tests (1

Depends on the individual, Isgro spent a lot of time in sevens,
so it is possibly a bit more complicated than the number of
games since he last played sevens, unlearning some of the
instincts drilled into him in sevens, particularly in defence.
He is not delivering his potential at the moment, and seems to
have actually gone backwards, bit like asking how long it takes
to learn to swim, some people never do, some go on to be Olympic
champions.
He may just not be as good as he looked in his first games for
us, but I hope it is just a learning process.
As far as Anderson goes he is not a bad player, but he is not an
excellent player either, in the grand scheme of Harlequins
wingers, he just seems competent but uninspiring, compared to
players that have played on the wing over the years.

I don’t think we can judge any of our backs on last season. We
were getting walked over for most of it (and didn’t Isgro score
that worldie against Newcastle?). If he’s still struggling once
we have a pack and some kind of defensive system, fine but I
still rate him and accept the odd brain fart along the way.
Anderson is a good solid 4th choice that wouldn’t have been
needed if we stopped breaking our better players. You need a
few of them to stay under the cap so not sure why he cops it
quite so much.

Squidge is really very excited by his signing, but realistic
about how long it might take him to adapt to playing at pro
level.
That said, from the showreel his footwork in attack is
astonishing, so the big question is how hard he wants to work
and how ready he is to learn the less glamorous aspects of wing
play. If he’s willing to learn from Murley, he could be a really
handy signing. If he has a touch of the Christian Wades about
him, maybe not so much.

I'd happily have him in the side if he replicated Wades career
at Wasps. Yes defence wasn't his strength which probably held
him back for England but he was always a threat and that
sometimes is worth more than a steady eddy type who probably
gives the oppo less to think about.

Anderson copped it because he had some legendarily awful
displays with some really high profile mistakes that made people
question his ability as a professional rugby player.
It takes time for that sort of impression of a player to go
away. He performed pretty well in the back half of the season,
his decision making stopped being a disaster, he cleaned up the
handling errors, and he showed some smarts and some elusive work
out wide. He has some strengths that should not be ignored, but
at the same time he is limited by what his body can do - he's
unfortunately not the same sort of athletic specimen as most
other Prem wingers. I said last season he'd probably make for a
fine 13, but at wing his relative lack of physicality and his
undeniable lack of pace are a genuine concern.
The new guy might be nothing, might be a secret weapon, might be
a Todaro-level impact, who knows. That level of acceleration is
a precious thing so I can see why they'd be willing to take a
look at him.
