From Rugby Pass

Saints have won the race to sign former Harlequins loosehead
Jordan Els, who became a free agent when his contract at the
Twickenham Stoop ran out at the end of last month.
Harlequins are in the market for an injury dispensation signing
to replace skipper Alex Dombrandt, who could miss most of next
season after damaging knee ligaments playing for England A at
the end of last season. No. 8 Dombrandt needed an operation to
repair the damage to his anterior cruciate ligament that he
suffered playing in the non-Test summer warm-up, and Quins are
looking to see who is available to replace him. They have
already been looking at the freed Newcastle Red Bulls duo, Max
Clark and Tim Cardall, but are set to dip into the transfer
market once again to get cover for Dombrandt.

I reckon Andre could play 8.

Well, I hope Els flourishes there. He always put in the effort
here, but he generally went backwards in scrums and never looked
premiership quality.

Els would be a solid operator at Championship level but never
really looked comfortable.
Be interesting to see who is available to bring in for 8 as
cover. Maybe we won't even bring in an 8 specifically, and give
CCS a run there along with schmid/Carr/Chisholm in support.
Wouldn't be at all surprised if we use the money for perhaps
another position

Was thinking similar, maybe another tight head lock?

I know Dommers has played centre for England but I think
replacing him with a lock may be tricky

Didn't Minty move from 8 to 2nd row for a chunk of one season?

Current climate (baby eating monsters excluded) what is the
difference between lock and 6/8 (Open-side NOT included)?

Must be of similar position, salary and experience. He's
probably our 2nd highest paid player. He's our most consistent
player and has scored nearly 90 tries.
How do you replace that? J Willis, Ardie Savea???
