Hooker Jibulu signs new Sale deal
   DIR By: Rugbycat

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Nathan Jibulu has signed a new contract with Sale Sharks aiming
to keep him at the club until 2030.
The 23-year-old hooker, whose performances for the Sharks in his
first season earned him a call-up to the England training squad
in June, played 23 games with Sale after joining from Harlequins
       last summer.
Jibulu told the Sale website, external: "We know the season
didn't go as we wanted but the atmosphere has been really good
and so many young lads got a lot of experience in big games.
"It's so exciting to think where lads like Alfie Longstaff and
Ralph McEachran could be in two or three years.
"With the signings we've made this season, we're building a
squad that can win titles and I want to be a part of that."
Sale director of rugby Alex Sanderson said: "For all the aspects
of the game with ball in hand that seem to be evolving, there
are certain fundamentals that you have to keep. Nathan gives you
       quality in both aspects.
"When he has the ball in his hands, things are going to happen
with his skill and his feet, and I haven't seen many, if any,
       players with more power."

Just glad the kid was able to join the club of his boyhood
dreams. Will all knew he’d end up at Sale as he did nothing but
mention them in the years before he moved up there.

Jokes aside, this would never have needed to happen if Ewan
Ashman had told us he was going to disappear to Scotland. It was
always very likely but we could have jettisoned him and kept
       Langdon.

He is not actually the loss that i thought he would be, a hooker
who is weak at set pieces is a bit of a liability, also trying
to eat your opponents is not optimal.
He is a bit like Alfie Barbeary in his early hooker days at
Wasps, before becoming a flanker, the two young hookers we have
coming through and Sam Riley, there was actually logic in
letting him go as we seem to well covered in the position.
England future wise, Kepu Tuipulotu again to me looks to have
far more potential, and can actually throw in as well as be
devastating in the open, and not by just running into people.

My hope is that working with Dorian West and Neil Briggs will
improve his darts. They've done it before and there were more
signs for optimism at the end of the season.
It will also help to have another season with LCD and (dare I
hope for) working with the same jumpers week on week.

I am not sure that LCD would be my first choice mentor for
       throwing in.

I'm not sure Barbeary even played a serious game at hooker for
       Wasps.
Besides which, I think you are sugar coating this. Jibulu was a
cracking prospect when he started getting game time with us, and
I see no reason why he shouldn't still be seen as a cracking
prospect. Trying to scoff opposition players isn't terribly nice
but doesn't nullify his playing qualities in any way unless
discipline becomes an issue for him as time goes by.

       October 2018 31mins in a PRC game at 16
August 2020 14mins in a PREM game at 16 (that would be during
covid and may be when teams were trying to put out two teams a
       week)
