That’s not the same thing. This law prevents a player going
round the outside whilst still bound.

If you rotate the maul, you'll be behind the ball and therefore
have to let go, right? That's what the rule implies.
There's no other way you would end up behind the ball at the
back of the maul while still being bound.

Well, a bit of a [swear word]-show from the U20s in the junior
world cup today. We had South Africa well in hand until our 7
decided to be a thug, headbutted a SA player, and got a red card
in the first half. Then they tore us to shreds until 15 minutes
remaining and they got their own red, after which we steadied
things again.
Our 7 deserves a long ban and the shame for having sabotaged the
England team.

Not seen the game, but from the report I believe the player to
get the card was Seb Kelly of Sale.
He came on for 24 minutes against us in April.

It was Seb (Dan Kelly’s little brother). It was a dumber than
dumb thing to do.

From reports it seems our contingent didn't disgrace themselves.
Staples seems to be fairly thought after here, wouldn't be
surprised to see more of him this season I imagine its why we've
not signed a hooker to allow him to develop so in the meantime
will be Walker and Riley as usual

I think we would probbo have been beaten anyway but the red was
avoidable. So, what happened to the 20 minute Red Card thingy?

E and T Williams, Streeter, Gorleku, Friday and Staples all
looked promising.

I think a straight red for deliberate foul play is a permanent
red. Something like that.
Highlights certainly suggest we'd have lost that one anyway.
Semi final is about right for this squad I think.
French guy lucky against NZ, they won with a glorious counter
attacking try but it should've been called back for a French
player kicking a kiwi on the ground out of frustration.
Surprised it wasn't noticed.
Should be a great final.

We might well have lost, it's true, but at the time of the red
card, we were a reasonable way ahead and were dominating SA in
most parts of the game. With the red, the momentum reversed
enormously.
Our contingent were really good, I thought. Staples and Streeter
were very powerful, Friday was excellent, and the others were
decent. Good signs for the Quins squad if we manage to keep
them.
