Bo Westcombe-Evans is presently unattached as she was released
by Loughborough at the end of the season.
The problem is simply financial, at present the attendance
numbers and media rights would not support a pro league, the
entire concept of the PWR was built around it being sustainable
and growth being linked to revenues growing.
So players in education, players with central contracts, and
players who are members of the armed forces are in the best
position.
The answer as the men’s game has demonstrated is not to pay
unsustainable wages to players, the game needs to grow, higher
attendance and a decent media rights deal are the way to a fully
professional league, the international game has proven there is
a market, now the clubs need to find new ways to promote the
women’s game and attract some of those who watch the red roses
to watch PWR.

She played in last years Melrose sevens for us, has been in the
squad since 24, joined from the CoE.

Fair enough. I was going by the offy announcement, which when I
read it (late evening after a tough week) came across as a new
signing rather than a re-signing.

Read like that to me to, also the club bio says she attends the
university of Surry, which probably should be Surrey.
With the number of players in the squad last year was hard to
keep with up them, I do wonder if we have other players at
Surrey who are part of the squad but not listed.

That might explain it. Surrey is pretty much the official uni
pathway to Quins, who have called up several players from the
BUCS squad for games.
So I suspect they’re drawing a distinction between “in our
pathway and has played some games” and “officially contracted.”
