9th place should go directly into the final I reckon.

9th place should be relegated to retain the drive to do better

To make rugby more interesting with promotion from the Champ, I
think I've found a novel way of making sure any Championship
team qualifies.
For added incentive, there will be a play off between bottom of
Prem and the winner of the Championship. If the winner is the
Championship side and their ground does not qualify under
current regs, then they move into the stadium of the Prem side
team they have just beaten as spoils of war. The losing Prem
side then moves into the Champs ground, like a social housing
mutual exchange.

Could you imagine the furore over this, as bold a suggestion as
it is, and I don't hate it.

The downside would be that if a team was way better than another
and they got started with a 10-12 or even more point advantage,
there would be very little excitement in the actual match. Give
the better team a lead, and your game is over before it's
started.

Naysayers and nitpickers, the lot of you*!
Frosty, I don't think you'd get an unexciting match. If a team
starts 10 points down in a semi final, hey have to throw
everything at the game. No point holding back or trying to
lessen the damage - all out attack all the time.
Losing a semi final by 25-5 is as bad as losing 60-15
*I do appreciate the hypocrisy of me saying this

Maybe a fixed advantage of three points, to provide some
advantage for being in the top two, but not putting it out of
reach.

I'm really not keen on artificially creating an advantage with
the score. Ok, I'm not young but it just seems naff to me. A
contest should be a fair contest.

Just keep home advantage...
This is a stupid idea. What a surprise. From the people who
brought you 'the PREM'...

I can’t see that Exeter and Bath fans would have travelled north
to Liverpool in the numbers required to create an atmosphere and
a financial boost. Would there be many casual spectators turning
up in the rugby Union hotbed of Merseyside. Ticket pricing would
be too high knowing what they’re normally like. It would work if
you waited to see who has reached the semifinals and then work
out geographically where the best available stadium is for those
teams, then start ticket prices at £20/£25 and charge £5 a
pint. Fill the place, get it rock in’ ( this year both certainly
would have been). Low pricing, good value, bigger turnout.
