Cadan Murley - England XV

Anybody else think Cadan bottled it in the first half when he
had the ball out on the left wing and cut back inside? I was
fully expecting a burst of his usual at that point round the
corner to score. Instead he veered right and took the contact.
Was anybody else disappointed by that?

I wasn't surprised or disappointed. He's a typical Borthwick
pick. He's got no super power, no special skill. He looks like a
player from a team that finished 9th. There are quicker, bigger,
stronger, braver wingers who haven't been picked.
Nice moustache though.

He scored more tries than Caluori though in the last game.
He would probably have scored even more if Borthwick had left
him to play the full 80.
But, Borthwick had probably seen his quality and wanted to give
the other players a chance to prove themselves.
Sadly, they didn't . . .

Played 51 minutes, with:
2nd most metres in the match (140m off 10 carries, with Marcus
on 152)
Joint 2nd on line breaks with Marcus + Ojomoh
3rd on defenders beaten with 4 (Caluori managed 7 in his 80
minutes, was top)
Didn't turn the ball over once unlike most of the ham-fisted
England team (Caluori managed it 5 times, worst on both sides)
Scored a try taking on a quality international wing 1v1
Pretty good showing - looked the most like an international wing
of all the England wings we saw, despite the terrible team
performance.
Caluori will come good, but it was a very Freddie Steward or
Rodrigo Isgro performance from him in the air. Obviously gets
great height but lost the ball a lot. He'll benefit a lot more
from the high ball being more judiciously used, because he's got
a lot more to his game than that. Borthwick might not be the guy
to make the most of it, though.
