To paraphrase for those who don't have access:-
       1. He's a good player and instrumental in Saints' run to the
       final
       2. He's been unlucky with injuries
       3. Can't believe he's going to 9th place Quins
       4. Quins' priority is the front 5
       5. Saints have some other good fullback options

Furbank was always going to be the sacrificial lamb so to speak,
as of all their new England stars he's the oldest, but for
another contract would want to command a good wage and getting
older may be more of a risk (injuries etc), which Saints
probably couldn't offer if they wanted to keep the likes of
Freeman, Coles, Pollock, Mitchell, Dingwall and co who all in
their own would want improved options

The feeling amongst their fanbase now (know a few and spoke to a
few at the last game of the season) is that if they were to do
it again, they'd let Mitchell go as the expensive departure and
keep Furbank. McParland's improvement and Hendy's lack of
kicking game being the main contributing factors.
But he's ours now, so hopefully some of that form carries over
       rather than the injuries.

And apparently he only came for£600,000 a year too!

The issue was that Saints would only give him a one year deal
whereas Quins were prepared to offer longer.

Beeb pre-final podcast interviews Furbank and talks about his
move. Ashton and Jones surmise that when the deal was done,
Furbank was a 29-year old with injury issues. Under those
circumstances, a one-year deal is understandable.
A few months later, the picture has changed immeasurably (both
for Furbank and for the 9 situation).

Furbank will either be disinterested or injured. He'll make
Jamie Roberts look like a good signing.

How did they say the picture has changed? From where I am sat he
is still a 29 year old with injury issues.
