I'm getting to the point where I think they've invented a new
position for IFW called Rehabilitation

This, of course, does not feature any of the players from the
four sides playing in the play-offs.
It is more a possibles selection than a probables. For those old
enough to remember those selection matches.

The match they're preparing for is the day before the play-off
final. Don't know if they will consider players from the losing
semi-finalists.

I think it's a little more significant this time round. Here's
the four fixtures that are coming up for England this summer:
France XV v England XV 19th June, Vannes
South Africa v England 4th July, Johannesburg
Fiji v England 11th July, Liverpool
Argentina v England 18th July, Santiago del Estero
While the first of those is a "friendly", the other three are
meaningful tests in the new "Nations Championship" competition.
It's already fairly well leaked that the team that play against
Fiji here will be substantially different to the one playing
against SA and Argentina, due to all the flying involved. Only a
few who play in SA will play vs Fiji, with the bulk of the squad
playing the first test flying direct to Argentina from there to
allow time to recover, acclimatize, etc.
That fixture vs a French XV is the day before the Premiership
final, so chances are he won't have that many of the losing
semi-finalists ready to play against them. Borthwick will be
looking to see who from the second string performs well vs the
French XV and want to use them to play against Fiji to i) get a
better view of the wider squad a year out from the next RWC and
ii) try to be well placed for the second set of Nations
Championship games by using the best players against SA and
Argentina.

Indeed. He may not make the final squad but he's earned the
callup
