I know a fair few who are interested, also some of the fans of
the women’s team are not interested in the men’s team, two
different pools with some cross over, she was disappointed by
there only being 2900 at the stoop, most champ teams would kill
for that number.
Women’s rugby is the fastest growing area of rugby and bringing
more people to watch rugby especially younger people is good for
all rugby, the financial structure is very different from the
men’s game.
There are two sides to any story, we may never hear both here I
suspect, unless you are self employed turning up late constantly
to work, will probably end badly.
With the amount of young players in the women’s side, there
would be an expectation of setting a good example, I like EK but
she seems to perhaps have lost the understanding that her income
from outside is generated by her performance on a rugby field,
starting fresh elsewhere may be the best thing for her.

She doesn't seem to be a problem to the England coaches, listen
towards the end of the very telling interview on BBC Breakfast
this morning. The interview starts at 07:48

and it looks like a bit of an own goal from Quins
Recent World Player of the year, fans player of the season but
funnily enough, the club seem to have deleted the post for that
on Insta, an inspiration to countless new fans and potential
players. The club have done themselves no favours in their
actions on this

The 2003 world cup winning men's team has several players who
really struggled after they won, I really don't think it's that
simple or straightforward.
I don't know how much we want to treat Chisholm as being
unimpeachable here - he's pretty inexperienced and is in charge
of a team having a very poor season. Perhaps binning off
Kildunne will turn it all around for next season.

Well, Jammers, I refer the Horrible Gentleman to my earlier
reply..."pure speculation of course"...
Also, good, bad or indifferent, Chisholm is the man and no
player is bigger than the club. Don't pick at me as if I was
stating fact because you and I both know that is a cheap shot,
my friend.

Binning off the most recognisable player in the game is utterly
bizarre. She would have to be a complete psycho disruptive loon
for that to be a good decision so we have two main
possibilities.
1) Ellie is a psycho disruptive loon who is holding Quins women
back.
2) Quins know eff all about player management.
We have much, much more evidence for 2) than 1).

I don't think Chisholm is unimpeachable. I think Quins gave him
too many contracts. We will have to see if more comes out on
this but I still favour the club over the player at the moment

I genuinely do not know what you mean by your final statement,
deadly. I of course agree on the complete speculation part.
Unless you mean my questioning where you got the information
that she wasn't putting in the effort in training, wanted extra
time off, wanted more money, etc etc - which was a genuine
question as I assumed you'd read about it somewhere. I haven't,
so I wanted to know more.

I've read the Telegraph article. I posted the archive version of
it. It mentions time-keeping, and skipping a team social. It
says nothing about upsetting fellow players and other coaches
(aside from Chisholm), demanding more money, demanding time off,
not interacting with fans, and wanting complete control over
image rights - all things deadly posted.
Seeing as he said "allegedly" on the wage demands, I figured
he'd read about all of this somewhere, because it's not in the
articles that have been posted on this thread, so I wanted to
know where he heard all this.

Let’s be honest there really are no meaningful wages within a
£220k budget, so yes speculation around wage demands are
unrealistic, the England central contract is probably her wages,
the club is likely to help with accommodation costs and
expenses, only she and the club know the exact financial
arrangement in place for her.
Wanting complete control of her image rights is a big thing, and
what does that mean for the club, paying her for using pictures
of herself in Harlequins kit is considered part of the wage cap,
turning up late does not generally endear you to your
colleagues, and if that lateness applies to training sessions,
hard to give full effort if you are not there.
The PWR is a semi pro league, a high quality one but essentially
one where most players are not directly paid, if you get a
central England contract then you receive between £33/50k and
with performance bonuses that can rise to about £63.5k.
They only got £15k for winning the rugby World Cup, non
contracted players just get the £1500 match fee for playing for
England.
I like EK, but it seems things have started to go wrong with her
and the club, what those things are, I doubt we will ever fully
know, she seems to have been unhappy since the World Cup, but
Women’s rugby at present at club level is a highly regulated
environment especially financially, and her earning potential
stems largely from the international game, but you have to play
for a club to get that.
Her deals with various brands likely massively outweigh her
rugby earnings, and perhaps she has lost perspective that they
depend on her rugby career, if she is behaving in the way that
the Telegraph describes then it is not a great leap to imagine
that she may have upset her teammates, who all earn considerably
less from rugby related sources than she does.
We will never know, but I greatly doubt the club made the choice
lightly and for frivolous reasons.
