Brooks and Fleming also play Lock.
Looking at the leavers, without sounding harsh I dont really
think any are a disaster (apart from EK but I understand the
reason).
Shirley picked up an injury that ruled her out for a long time.

That’s quite a big assumption. Galligan is due in October. I
would not be surprised if, like Abbie Ward, she returned to
training a couple of weeks after giving birth and to playing in
the second half of the season.
“Over 20 players leaving” is not at all uncommon in the women’s
squad - and other teams have similar turnover. Most of the
players are on volunteer or pay-for-play contracts and retire or
move if another club can offer them a better day job or because
they just can’t keep the dual career thing up.
Excluding the leavers and not counting Galligan, offy lists nine
locks; most of whom aren’t that well known yet but I imagine the
club has faith that they will break through

Video by Bristol popped up on Instagram of Ellie wearing a Bears
shirt and saying "Sorry I'm Late". Bit of a swipe to Quins there
I guess.

As sad as it was to see her go and shocking that there had been
no rumblings of discontent. What ever it was the led to her
being released must have been serious enough to survive legal
scrutiny, it’s not an easy process and Quins would need to have
ensured they could not get doe for unfair dismissal.
Also you can’t have one person (even the top performing) not
playing by the same rules as everyone else.
I hope she does well at Bristol, but also don’t think we will be
any worse off.

She was out of contract, the league is semi professional, and
the amount of reimbursement that players receive is very
limited.
KD’s main source of income is probably endorsements and then her
England central contract, club payments would be a distant 3rd.
This article is interesting and puts into perspective where
women’s rugby is, and that it is not the land of milk and honey,
yet.
