Given the RFU actively lobbied World Rugby that the "20 minute
cameo" he made for the SA U20's in 2016 shouldn't count as he
was an emergency injury call up rather than being part of the
squad, and hence be eligible for England this summer rather than
being tied to SA, says to me Borthwick is keen to have him in
the squad.

BVR is not available for the SA game; he only becomes available
on or after the 8th July.
12: Atkinson
13: Freeman
That is my go-to centre pairing.

I'm sure he'd do well for England. I don't think SA would look
at him.

I think if DDA or Andre broke badly, they'd be pretty happy to
have BJVR (!) available as an option given he's both a bosh
centre and a pretty skilled ball player. I know there are a few
good SA kids coming through who look like powerful ball carriers
but they're a few years off yet.
Ball players for days, of course.

I don't like Freeman at 13. I thought he was exposed there in
the 6N.

He will get better the more he plays there. He is a big unit and
powerful, just what we need against the Boks.

I’m so glad we’ve reached the stage where we don’t want to pick
someone who lives 200 miles from London if that’s in France as
opposed to Cornwall, but we can cap someone who is 100% South
African but just not good enough to play for South Africa.

Well yeah, we can control one but not the other and it doesn't
hurt the premiership either

It's got nothing to do with where someone lives.

Don’t agree with BJV being picked or the eligibility surrounding
it, but thems the rules and my opinion counts for nothing. I
just hope we don’t lose English talent because of it.
