       England Training Squad

Nothing enormously surprising here. Benhard Janse van Rensburg
is in, which I assume is to tie him to England rather than
giving him much in the way of game time. Slightly surprised to
see Nick Isiekwe there as he's never really broken through with
       England.

Should have said, Smith, Dombrandt, CCS, and Murley in for us.
       Again, no real surprises there.

It wouldn't surprise me to see him play in the game against
Fiji. The England management have already said there'll be a lot
of changes to the side that plays against Fiji because of the
schedule and the travel involved. We'll probably have a handful
at most of players feature in all three games this summer

Any word on Baxter? I thought he was due to be back this month
and surprised he’s not even been mentioned.

Baxter not considered for selection owing to injury. It
doesn’t matter who goes into the squad or team really as long as
the only function of the centres under Borthwick is to chase box
kicks. The Northampton players will be told by him to get rid
       of all their attacking thoughts.

This is for a three-day training event starting today. I don't
think it's the final squad for the summer tests. Baxter is still
a couple of weeks off, IIRC.

Not too bad with no major shocks. It's a shame the SA game is
the first rather than last fixture, to try bed in some newbies.
That said, my 23 from that line up I'd go for..
       1. Genge
       2. George
       3. Heyes
       4. Coles
       5. Martin
       6. Chessum
       7. Pollock
       8. Earl
       9. McParland
       10. Smith - F
       11. IFW
       12. Dingwall
       13. BJV
       14. Radwan
       15. Furbank
       16. Iyogun
       17. Blamire
       18. Opoku-Fordjour
       19. CCS
       20. T Curry
       21. Spencer
       22. Smith - M
       23. Freeman

I don't think van Rensburg would have been very prominent on the
SA radar, given their strength in depth.

Probably not, but countries do like to pin down prospective
players. It seems to be an acquisitional instinct, even if they
hardly use them at all afterwards.
