Will be interesting to see how this pans out. We could see it
being introduced in the Premiership as well...

I've long been in favour of the French/Super Rugby system. How
can anyone justify Bristol getting anything out their hammering
on the weekend? It also stops teams switching off in the last
10/20 or so when they have built a lead and scored 4 tries - see
both Sarries and Leicester this weekend as examples.
It would improve Prem defences with a potential benefit to
       England in the longer term.

Have bonus points really affected the finishing positions, or
actually accomplished much, perhaps just get rid of them
       altogether.
Also what do you get for winning the Champ next season, a hamper
or gift vouchers, there are according to the press at least five
champ clubs in talks with investors about ultimately getting
       them into the prem.
Actually where teams finish and the points system to achieve
that seem academic, if you want to get to the prem.
The champ will be a bit pointless until the teams that want to
be pro join the prem and the others settle on being a semi pro
       league.

You get to be the winner of the top league in the RFU pyramid
now the Prem is basically ringfenced. Though tbf as noone has
gone up in half a decade, it was already the case. I'm sure lots
of teams would be very happy to win that and be crowned
       champions.
If, as you say, league position is basically irrelevant to
whether you go up, then teams will need to view their on field
performance as a completely different thing to any potential
infrastructure investment to bid for premiership entry.

Remember - there is demotion from the Champ down to Nat 1.
So - league points are very, very important.

The people at RugbyPass have laid out exactly this.
       Interesting changes.

So Ealing will win again, as they are massively over funded for
the champ, realistically we should be looking for the fully
professional teams to be in the prem, and the semi pro teams to
be in the champ, so that it is a competition that is played on a
       level playing field.
That may take a few years to achieve.

But you can’t really extrapolate that as they are playing to the
       current rules.

       No disagreement here.

The flip side to this is that if you score seven tries, you may
       not get a TBP.
