That's like saying a company that owns a rugby club and a hotel
can make a profit because the hotel profits are larger than the
rugby clubs losses.
Which one would you ditch?

There were lots of tries today even though there was lots of
kicking so I don’t think the spectacle was dull or boring. Those
that didn’t attend have missed a great performance and win by
us. But you can’t sell things with hindsight.

It depends what the business objective of the rugby club is.
Is it purely a profit centre or an investment to bring in future
customers for the hotel (and the fortnightly cinema screening)?

If I was in the hotel business I doubt I'd be looking at rugby
to pull in customers. There must be other attractions.

Club needs to decide if it wants 30k at £60 a ticket or 60k at
£30 a ticket. I brought a friend along today for their first
ever match, they loved it. But could only justify it cost wise
with the season ticket discount and credit from selling a seat
earlier in the season. Someone new to rugby who fancies a day
out isn't going to pay a minimum of £60 each to go.

Fairly simple question with a simple answer.
Want more people to go? Then don’t lose for most of the year
before hand playing lacklustre rugby.

I don't particularly like the big games as I much prefer the
stoop. One a year is fine. I get why they do it, but when it was
two out of 11 games it wasn't as bad as 2 out of 9.
You can't expect people to turn up though when we've been so
awful. Cadan said it himself

Agreed. I thought about going with my wife. Looks like it
would have been £120 for tickets, plus travel, food etc.
Probably £150 to £200 overall. That's an expensive afternoon to
watch a team 2nd from bottom, playing poorly in recent months,
in a less than 40% full stadium.
Given where it falls in the season, so much of BSKO's attraction
depends on where we are in the table & how we're playing. It's
much more at risk of league placing than Big Game, especially as
Big Game has the Christmas break event angle.

I would rather we enlarged the stoop to 20/25k ,we would have
the same amount of spectators over the year, and total control
of our cost base.
I much prefer the Stoop and BSKO is always going to be dependent
on our form, and league position, we have been talking about
expanding the Stoop for years, of course it will be expensive
and we are making a loss.
But the Big games attract the equivalent of day trippers and an
enlarged Stoop would hopefully attract serious supporters.

We've been playing awful rugby most of this season and were
playing a side that nilled us away earlier this season chasing
the playoffs. The last HQ game saw an absolutely stinking
performance. The recent announcement of new coaching set up was
about as underwhelming as it could've been. The weather forecast
from a while out was pretty meh.
