first played under Eddie he was genuinely bad, and then seemed
to get back in for no real reason and pick up a shed load of
caps despite Murley and sleightholme both being in ridiculous
form, at one stage I believe he has 2 tries in 14 appearances or
something crazy like that.

Have to say, this is crazy talk. Murley is a powerful winger but
Freeman is still stronger. As for "had a nice little purple
patch in 2025 when he scored loads of tries, which has papered
over the fact that before and since he's had a pretty mediocre
record" - that's just rubbish.
Freeman's Premiership record in the last 5 season
2021/22: 13 tries in 14 matches
2022/23: 11 tries in 15 matches
2023/24: 5 tries in 16 matches (he was largely at 13 here)
2024/25: 7 tries in 11 matches (plus 9 in 8 Champions Cup, 5 in
5 internationals)
2025/26: 15 tries in 12 matches
23/24 was nothing to write home about but the rest is absolutely
phenomenal and bears comparison with Murley:
2021/22: 15 tries in 23 matches
2022/23: 15 tries in 18 matches
2023/24: 3 tries in 8 matches
2024/25: 11 tries in 12 matches (plus 4 in 4 in Champions cup, 3
in 4 in internationals)
2025/26: 2 tries in 13 matches
51 tries at 0.75 tries per match in the Premiership in the last
5 seasons for Freeman.
46 tries at 0.62 for Cadan.

To be fair, rugby isn't a one man game. How many tries a winger
scores depends a hell of a lot on how the rest of the team are
performing.

Yes, and Saints weren't great for all those seasons and we were
pretty good for some of them. Regardless, Freeman's record is
extremely good and RR's comments don't make any sense. He was on
safer ground going after Roebuck!
