They are 51% Thai owned and 49% Austrian, Red Bull is just a
version of Krating Daeng but fizzy and less sweet.
It is based in Austria, the reason why they have gone into other
areas is that the original Thai drink is now only the number 3
energy drink in Thailand, and Red Bull was really a one product
company.

Red Bull probably gets more bang for the buck from sports
sponsorship than they would from conventional advertisiiing.

Right, Red Bull GmbH was founded in Austria and is headquartered
in Austria. A Thai family has a 51% stake in it. The drink was
based on a Thai product that they changed to suit the European
market and I don't think the Thai market is the reason why
they've diversified, given how insanely popular the drink is
practically worldwide.
