technically, yes argies were above us. But that was mainly down
to their first team's performances, not the 3rds.

There's an inertia to rankings that doesn't always reflect the
way a team is currently playing. Anyway, I don't think anyone
would consider England beating Argentina a massive upset, or if
they did, that would be a very sad state. Argentina are good,
but not that good.
The win against France that started it was very pleasing, but
let's not delude ourselves. It came about because France every
ball they had in an attacking position, and not under pressure.
They had a terrible day in wet weather. We had a marginally
better one.
Even so, it was a good run, and the victory over the ABs was
excellent, but like I said, it was down to very limited tactics
that have been worked out.

(The inertia in rankings is probably the only reason we're only
down to 6th after losing to Scotland (7th now) and Italy (10th
now).

Did anyone really expect the RFU to actually do anything, I
don’t that anyone here did, they probably already have another
coach in mind for after the RWC.
We went through all this with Eddie Jones but he failed several
times and alienated the players,SB hasn’t done that yet, the
whole market for coaches and DoR’s is waiting for the game of
musical chairs that will happen after the World Cup.
Was this even worth the effort, and realistically the problem
that England have is a very basic and inflexible game plan, that
other teams can easily work out, and counter.
We often look better than we are at RWC, as teams tend to play
conservatively or suffer nerves, and then the RFU give the coach
another cycle, when they should be replaced.
Until we employ a coach that plays a game based on how the
matches are played in the Prem, and has a style of play, like
for Example Northampton, we will constantly go round in circles.
