But huge numbers of tickets are... Already allocated to rugby
clubs in advance of general sale aren't they?

It very much is about adding numbers. If you want to argue that
club fans are drifting away from the club game because the
international game doesn't incentivise them enough, then have at
it, I'd be interested in seeing that explained. But it really
does not have anything to do with the issue at hand either way,
which is that there are a huge amount of fans of England rugby
who don't get into club or grassroots rugby and that's a huge
missed opportunity.

I don't know the numbers, I didn't think it was huge. It
certainly isn't magicking up hordes of new club watchers,
unsurprisingly, and it's another reason why we don't need yet
more concessions to club members if the aim is to convert some
of those international-only supporters, or why those club
members can't possibly feel left out or taken for granted...

So, we begin to align. Do you have any sensible ideas as to how
we use the power of the International ticket to encourage
newbies along to Prem/Grassroots rugby without alienating
existing regular fans/players?

Players club badges on the England shirt.
I used to play and watch England rugby, got interested in club
through Moore, Skinner, Carling etc
Maybe that’s a cheap way of promoting the clubs
Buts it’s likely all going to change with Hearns involvement,
and targeting the TikTok generation as things are very different
now

The question is surely whether that's a way to increase club
attendance at all. Are the kind of people who might go to an
international actually the kind of people who would go every
week or every other week to a club game? Are they the same
audiences at all? To go to a club game, you have to be wedded to
the club. Do England fans, for instance, actually identify with
a club at all or just with England and are they likely to, or
are they only interested in the occasional international? I
think that's something the RFU would have to establish before
doing anything with international tickets at all.

There are two world rugby regulations around shirts, it looks
like you would have to ask in writing before each match to have
a club badge, very strange.

Well, I already said that I think the bigger issue is getting
them into grass roots rugby, which is suffering, rather than pro
club rugby which has done pretty well to grow attendances. But I
also already suggested one route would be to give people who buy
England tickets free or heavily discounted tickets to one of the
Big Games - a tactic the clubs already use to some success that
wouldn't tread on any toes.
I think we can all agree that "make it so you have to buy
something else [or be a regular club attendee] to get an England
ticket" is completely wrong as a solution to that problem,
though

For me, the best thing for National Leagues and Champ would be a
results round up in the Prem Coverage.
The Clubber TV coverage has helped a bit. But the more the club
names get in front of the eyeballs of potential spectators the
better.

Clubber tv does no seem a good deal for customers or clubs,
£29.99 a month which is more than TNT for the prem games or
£9.99 if you watch single games.
And they pay the clubs a “four figure fee”, of which 75% goes to
the home side and 25% to the away side.
The reviews are not great.
