And a great engine, good leadership and a lot of other qualities
we could do with around the team.
Instead we値l sign a project player prop who no one has ever
heard of and a lock who is 2nd or probably 3rd choice at his
club. Not to mention Furbank who is has signed may help ST
       retention and new sales.

I am surprised that he is still playing, as he has had some
major issues with concussion and being unable to play because of
long return to play protocols in the past.
Yes he is a great player and leader, but my concern is around
his future health and his family, in the end it is his choice
but with the present concerns around head injuries, clubs need
to be careful, given his age and past history.

But - is the "great engine" view based on your memory of how
good he was a number of years back at Saints? Or is it based on
his current performances playing in the French D2?
Joe Launchbury used to be one of England's best locks at one
point - but, I couldn't image may clubs lining up to sign him in
3 years time when he is 37.
In the past, we recruited Nick Kennedy towards the end of his
career and it wasn't a great signing for us.
Many on this board have moaned about recruiting older players
(e.g. Harry Williams, George Turner, Joe Launchbury, Stuart
Townsend). I don't see why we would suddenly be happy about
taking on someone who is even more senior.

Regardless of whether Lawes can still cut it, we don't need a
hybrid blindside/lock. We already have Petti and CCS.
Front row and inside centre have to be the priority.

Agree with this and a few other counter comments to my earlier
       post.
My point was more pointed to the players we are signing, not
being clear indicators that we need to rebuild and fast.
Hopefully we値l have some more released soon but I知 not that
confident it will fix out issues which are based around the set
       piece.

An actual lock would be good though. As ever it's the baby
eating, hirsute variety that we need. A tight head lock I
believe they're being called these days.

I was thinking the other day that we could also do with a couple
       of good wingers.

James Dun packs down at tighthead lock I believe. Although I
fear he's not hirsute enough to sate your desires.

I think a hooker should be a priority too walker really isn稚
good enough and turner who has looked great for Scotland is off
       to Newcastle
