I must be a simpleton. Can somebody explain to me how a Clubs
value increases when it is constantly making multi-million £
losses?

Since becoming a regular player, this is how many matches in
total he's played each season (all competitions + teams)
18 (1169'), 22 (1692'), 16 (1030'), 25 (1880'), 22 (1608'), 27
(1951'), 12 (709'), and so far this season 11 (732'). Averages
1,434 minutes per season before this season.
He's never missed a full season and only last season was a bad
one. He's earmarked for the fullback shirt. Tyrone is our most
regular 15. Here's his stats since joining Quins:
20 (1270'), 25 (1843'), 5 (376'), 28 (2186'), 18 (1290'), and
this season 10 (636').
Averages 1,393 minutes per season before this season.
I'm not seeing sicknote. That would be someone like Lewies, with
35 appearances in four full seasons (including this one, as he's
done). Or a less dramatic comparison, Luke Northmore, who's
provided >1000 minutes of rugby precisely once (24/25, when he
went on tour with England) and averages about half the minutes
of Furbank.

Liverpool were purchased in 2010 for £300m are now valued at £4
billion, Bournemouth were valued at £0 now worth £100m.
The "Closed League" Mentality: While promotion/relegation exists
in some leagues, the top leagues (like the Premiership) act as
"closed shops." There are limited, elite opportunities to own a
stake in a top-flight team. As investors seek to enter the
sport, the cost of entry rises, driving up valuations.
Investment in Potential: Investors are betting on the future
growth of the game (such as the 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup or
new TV deals) rather than the current financial performance.

While Furbank is a first class player and I'm pleased we've
signed him, I don't feel particularly excited as we're such a
cack side currently. There's a good chance his career at Quins
will be a total anti-climax.

Have to say I cant understand the negativity about this signing.
He is a current England international at peak of his career, an
amazing player, will add a lot to our squad, play the Quins way,
will hopefully provide a second playmaker, and combine well with
Marcus. More excited about this signing than any others since
Andre. If you want to improve get better players simples!!

I think some of the ambivalence about signing Furbank is because
we've had bigger problems in a number of other key positions.
Swiegers may well solve one of those, but still leaves hooker,
2nd row, 12 and a toss-up between somewhat injury-prone Porter
or very young Friday at 9. That's not to mention our terrible
injury list in general.
That being said, he's a massive step-up from Green and David as
15s.

Based on the BBC comments thread, the major sticking point for
Furbank was wanting a 2 year contract when Saints were only
prepared to offer 1. (Sounds oddly familiar… wonder why?)
From a Quins perspective, it gives us a starting fullback and
second playmaker who can also cover 10 to a high standard, which
makes it harder for opponents to shut down the backline by
targeting Marcus, and gives Friday attacking options on both
sides.
I also suspect that - if we can get the pack firing properly -
it enhances both Marcus and George’s England prospects if they
can show they are a 10/15 combo that can make things happen.

I sense the influence of Matt Ferguson on this one. I’d also
like to think Furbank has been given assurances that the club
are going to sort out the pack. No point in him joining to sit
behind the current set up.
