Now for a decent hooker and no 12 minimum but agree Furbank is a
great addition to the backline, although I think Benson loss is
potentially a big loss

unfortunately Tyrone hasnt really been out of the sick bay these
last 2 seasons so not much of an effect when it comes down to
it. Any idea when his contract is up?

Inside centre is a difficult one, we are never going to replace
you know who, and we have a couple of decent young players, i
would look at Bautista Ezcurra, who plays for Grenoble in the
D2.
Hooker again is interesting, young players coming through and
not a great deal available in England that we could get get to
join us, would have to look outside England.

As a good alternative 15 for when Furbank is away with England /
playing 10 / injured, and as an excellent wing option. When fit.

Heck of a signing if he stays fit. The prospect of him and
Marcus in the same side is an exciting one. Let's hope this is
the start of the rebuild!
Big question is who plays 10 when we have the hangover/rest
periods from internationals and Smith, Furbank and Jev are all
unavailable.
Benson is still a loss, unless Slevin or Bellamy are genuinely
ready to step up.

I’d be happy if we retained Tyrone (a fit one) if it meant
parting ways with David, as Tyrone would take his role.
Defo need a reserve 10 if Evans is off. Marcus and Furbank could
be away at the same time, trusting a few kids would be a
disaster in the whole.

For me, it's too much of a gamble, ie:
- If he stays fit and plays well, we won't see that much of him
as he'll be off with England in the summrer, then the Autumn,
Six Nations and World Cup.
- If he doesn't stay fit, he's not much use to us.
- If he doesn't play well, he's not much use to us.
As always, it depends on what we're paying him. If he's cheap
as chips then it's probably worth the gamble. If we're paying
him top dollar, it's too much of a gamble. Unfortunately, the
article in the Guardian and the comments from Saints strongly
suggests we've spent a lot on him.
A fairly pointed response from Saints:
“We wanted to keep George and I think he probably wanted to
stay,” said Phil Dowson, Saints’ director of rugby. “But there’s
lots of other context around it that has to work for him and us
and unfortunately we couldn’t do that. At no point was there any
animosity. It’s just one of those things.
“We tried to make an offer, but other clubs who are desperate
for players will pay the money that potentially gets him out. If
Saints suddenly had a multimillion-pound backer that might
change things, but they don’t so we make decisions based on the
financial situation at the club.
So, he's basically saying that Furbank really wanted to stay at
Saints, but went to us because we made a huge offer because
we're desperate. Hmmm
