Harlequins are pleased to confirm Senior Academy duo Ollie
Streeter and Ludo Kolade have renewed their contracts with the
Club.
A tighthead prop, Streeter played his junior rugby in West
Sussex with Haywards Heath RFC and was educated at Gordon’s
School. Now 19, he represented England at Under-18 level before
becoming a full-time member of the Harlequins Academy.
He made his Harlequins debut at just 18 years old during last
season’s Big Summer Kick-Off against Gloucester and has since
gone on to make eight First Team appearances, including four in
the Gallagher PREM.
Streeter has also featured for England Under-20s, playing in
fixtures against Wales and Georgia, and has been selected for
both the 2025 World Rugby U20 Championship and the 2026 Men’s
Under-20 Six Nations.

Kolade in action for Harlequins
Kolade was educated at King’s School, Canterbury, and, like
Streeter, played his junior rugby at Haywards Heath RFC before
joining the Harlequins Academy in 2022.
The 22-year-old has made eight First Team appearances to date,
making his Gallagher PREM debut in the opening match of the
2025/26 season against Bath Rugby at The Stoop.
Kolade has international age-grade experience, having
represented England at Under-18 and Under-19 level before
switching allegiance to Scotland Under-20s.
Lead Transition Coach, Matt Ferguson said: “After a challenging
start to the season due to injury, Ollie has shown character and
a great work ethic to fight his way back and establish himself
as England’s starting tighthead throughout the Under-20 Six
Nations. During that time, he has consistently demonstrated his
set-piece excellence and real physical presence, and we’re now
looking forward to seeing those qualities continue to shine in a
Quins shirt.
“Ludo, meanwhile, stood out from day one as an outstanding
professional. His consistency and diligence have been evident
all season, both in a Quins and London Scottish shirt, and that
level of performance speaks volumes about his standards and
commitment.”

It doesn't make it clear if these are "Academy" contracts or
"Senior" contracts.
I will update the Squad list with them still in the academy.
Please let me know if you know differently.

Both good players. Kolade always looked a cut above at age grade
for Quins. Streeter is a monster who can only get better with
age, experience and the tutelage of Bomb. Making his debut at 18
says a lot, and our prop stocks with Fin, Streeter and Hobson
show that this should be an area of strength for some years to
come.
I keep saying this - stick with the younger players rather than
bringing in rafts of new signings every year. It may be another
painful season, but let them bond and grow as a consistent and
stable team.

What's the word on Kolade's potential/ceiling? And has he had
more senior game time with Scottish or Richmond?

It says in the first sentence that they are Senior Academy
players who have renewed their contracts which suggests they are
still in the Academy. A player signing a Senior contract is
usually described differently - “new contract”, “first senior
contract” etc.

I agree - that was my reading of it.
But - it wasn't 100% clear.
Also - I was unsure about Ludo. I was expecting him to go senior
based on his age. 22 is generally quite old for extending an
academy contract.
We have some 22 year old players currently in the academy:
Cameron Doak -- 21 when he renewed
Jack Doorey-Palmer -- leaving
Seb Driscoll -- 22 when he renewed (same as Ludo)
Jake Murray -- 21 when he renewed
We have these guys on senior contracts
Jonny Green -- 21 when he signed
Zach Carr -- 21 when he signed
Bryn Bradley -- 22 when he signed
Ben Waghorn -- 21 when he signed (HAPPY 22ND BIRTHDAY BEN! in
case you are reading this :-) )
Sean Kerr -- 21 when he signed
(hopefully I have my maths correct)

Kolade may be a bit behind in terms of his contract because he
went to uni for a few years. I'm just speculating.

Every young player progresses differently - I assume we'll have
to sign Friday to a senior contract when his academy one comes
up for renewal, because he's now making regular appearances in
the first team. And he's what, 19? Same for E Williams and
Streeter on current trajectory - they are both freakish athletes
and (I hope) we'll prioritise locking them in.
On the flip side, didn't the likes of Benson and Musk stay on
academy contracts right up to 24 (which I believe is the max age
before they have to graduate to a senior contract)? In Benson's
case, that was a case of prioritising university studies too. In
Musk's... well he came through at the same time as Riley and
Jibulu who had higher ceilings and Head was kicking around too.
So he had to really earn it - and then, ironically, has done
very little since (presumably due to injury).
Kolade has only appeared in Prem Cup games as far as I know...
when he breaks through and starts playing Prem games, that's
when his agent will have leverage. I can see him picking up
games next season - especially if Northmore and Beard's injury
woes continue. He'd be a natural foil at 13 to e.g. Waghorn at
12.

The Academy contract rules are also a bit different since the
salary cap changes during the pandemic. Players can now be paid
up to £50k and be on an academy contract until they are 25,
IIRC. And it doesn’t count towards the overall cap.
So it makes sense to keep young players on academy contracts
until their market value demands a salary of over £50k. I am
sure Friday will be getting a senior contract next time around
to lock him in, but Streeter and Kolade aren’t in that bracket
yet.
