With Williams I think only having a one year deal and Titi
presumably coming to the end, this makes sense. Not sure we
would replace both outgoing TH's though...perhaps Streeter will
assume that 3rd TH role.

I'm hoping he'll be more of a Martyn Madden type late bloomer.
Also, let's not forget that our own Minty was playing lower
league before he joined us at the age of 26.

Think this is fair. Currie Cup and nothing more at 27 suggests
we represent a step up for him. We wish him well but I don't
think we should expect Wilco levels of play (WL was a capped Bok
by the time he came North). Any upgrade on Lamositele and
Williams would be welcome, though!

Orrell’s loss was our gain with minty, but they were well and
truly stuffed by their owner who bought the club from the
members, told them in was in for the long haul and then sold the
ground to Wigan warriors and disappeared into the sunset.
Was probably Karma for Austin Healey.

One think that I noticed in my research on the bloke is that he
appears to have bulked out.
I think that when Rassie was interested in him he was clocking
the scales at around 107kg
The Pumas have him listed as 122kg.
I wonder if he is good - but was a bit too lightweight and has
been eating pies for a few years.
15kgs is quite a big change. (Something like 2st 4lb in old
money)

I personally have a good feeling about this one - whilst there
isn't a tonne out there on him, he feels a much better profile
than either Lamo or Williams.
Similar to what someone said above, to even get invited to a
Boks training squad as a TH prop is an achievement in itself -
especially with Malherbe, du Toit, Louw, Koch, Nyakane all in
and around the squad during 2024 when Sampie got the call up.
Looking across the Prem, how many starting THs do you think
could have realistically got in the mixer with those names at
that time (when the Bomb Squad was feared worldwide)? On current
form, probably only Joe Heyes for me - ok, you could argue Scott
Sio and Nepo Laulala are both ex-international THs but are both
heading towards their twilight years now and not digging up
trees like they used to.
Feels like a promising signing - I'm choosing to go glass half
full on this one.

I guess he could have more of a hunger to achieve given his age
and the fact he hasn't been there and done that like the other
two.

Not passing judgement on a player I know nothing about, but
joining a training squad even for a very good team means nothing
without further progress. They took a look at him but that
positive is countered by the fact they never did it again.
