All very silly. Relegation or no relegation, the Premiership has
improved over the last decade or so, the very bottom of the
table was almost always a foregone conclusion, and teams not
fearing annihilation contributed to a much better brand of
       rugby.
One weird season doesn't change that.

I saw the headline earlier today and thought it was a strange
take. Almost as if it was rage bait.
Gloucester not turning up against Leicester doesn’t mean the
league is dead. Going into the Tigers game, they had two wins
       just like Quins.
To say the league is dead would therefore be to ignore the
result from your game. Or even NRBs running Saints close last
       week.

"Clubs that go up and down from the lower levels regularly"
He might be thinking of Richmond who have been up and down.
But Saracens and Worcester have each been promoted to the
Premiership three times in the same period.
Is that a criticism of the Premiership?
       The current Championship
       Team Promoted
       Richmond 2025
       Chinnor 2024
       Cambridge 2023
       Caldy 2022
       Ampthill 2019
       Coventry 2018
       Hartpury 2017
       Ealing 2015
       Doncaster 2013
       London Scottish 2011
       Nottingham 2004
       Pirates 2003
       Bedford 1995
       Which looks healthy to me.
The problem is the complete lack of promotion or funding.

There is talk of expanding the Prem to 20 teams.
Where is the money coming from?
I do not see a desire for more rugby on TV.
Where are the players coming from?
       Dont say BUCS.
       What grounds would be used?
There are plenty of Soccer and a few RL rounds, but it did not
work for either Reading or Brentford. I remember Newcastle was
going to be a multi sport club. But they never played at St
       James Park.

So why did we beat Bristol, there really has not been promotion
       or relegatin in recent seasons.
Ealing are not that interested in playing away from their
strange little ground, so have won and will win again this year
and not been promoted, their owner has a net worth of £400m and
has invested in a PWR team, but will not move to a new ground.
The prem wants a 14 team league as an end game, but those four
teams may not be in exsistence at present, or will be a team
taken over and completly changed and with no real link to its
       previous form except the name.
The tired argument of a lot of the champ clubs with other
people, such as the exsisting Prem teams and or the RFU,
providing a costly safety net was never going to happen, the old
system did not work, so a new system is being tried.

Ealing are content with being a big fish in a small pond, and
are probably wary about any(even if temporary) switch to another
venue to play in the Prem. London Welsh at Oxford vibes
probably. Worcester also not massively keen on a rapid return
but they are the best placed team to step up. I'd pick the
Pirates to come up just for the banter personally

Maybe the regulations need to change so as to not be as
prohibitive. I get the idea that crowd capacities may be too
much for existing club grounds that could be promoted, but that
can be managed. Say, for example Ealing do get promoted - then
ticket sales will be limited to whatever their ground can hold.
Higher demand might encourage them to invest thereafter if they
can, and for other potential promotees, a few full capacity
games would bolster their coffers and assist them in either
recruitment or ground development, or both. A promoted club then
wouldn't have to commit to large investment at the risk of
relegation the following season, and could even look at staged
development with the ground being reviewed on a season by season
basis. e.g. capacity may be increased from 5,000 to 7,000, and
       so on.
The current regulations just seem too rigid IMO, especially when
IIRC a few of the Prem clubs at one time didn't actually comply,
but were in the Prem already when the rules were brought in.

They give you four years to reach 10001, Ealing would have to
move, they only have one access road, which does not allow a
capacity of more than 6000 to meet safety legislation.
The MSC have developed in recent years to help meet the needs of
clubs aspiring to be in the Prem, by giving more flexibility to
meet those standards. Under the MSC for season 2025/26, a club
which has the ability to reach a capacity over 10,000, with
planning permission and a funded plan, now has until their
fourth year in the Prem to achieve that capacity. This has
extended the runway by a further year compared to the previous
version to give additional flexibility. Clubs are able to
develop their own grounds while continuing to play there, they
can move temporarily to allow works to take place, or clubs can
move permanently to a new ground.

I don't see how other people can't get this. ??? Whilst the old
guy is in control of the club, and its finances, then what he
       says goes.
They've a great little ground ; lose only one game every second
year, and have a spacious family friendly environment. They
don't have to worry about potential financial ruin in the PRL.
There's a consistent crowd of about 1,000 - sufficient to form
       an atmosphere.
I was there two weeks ago - long may Ealing last in its present
       form.
