Agree that Hobson and Streeter look promising, and I'd be happy
with both being third-choice in their respective positions. Not
sure either is ready to be first-choice, and realistically you
need two LH's and two TH's who are European/Prem quality and can
play week-in, week-out, incase one goes down.
The question mark for me at loosehead is Wenger, simply because
I've not seen enough to judge whether he can step up when Baxter
is out.
We have another hybrid forward incoming in Dun, so replacing
Lewies/Launchbury with a beast makes sense to give optionality.
It's always going to be difficult for Wenger as, when fit,
Baxter will hit 60-70 mins every week. He's like the great Sir
Jase in that way that he can go and go. So when Wenger does get
time, it isn't much. We know Baxter is quality so we may have to
accept that he get's reduced minutes and give Wenger a chance to
accumulate minutes.
As a former TH myself, I do weep at our current lot but do feel
that Delgado and Streeter need the nod and let them play week
in, week out and it will get better rather than chucking Titi or
Williams in. If we bring a more experienced, mid 20's TH in then
we'll end up in the same position of not quite knowing. I just
want a TH who does his job in the scrum, not bothered if he has
hands like a concert pianist or not this is not a 12/13 but if
he holds his end up as well as a 2nd row then that's good enough
for me

Thoroughly disagree - Harry Williams has been woeful. Offers
worse than nothing in the loose with hands like udders, and when
he's not on roller skates, his side of the scrum gets pinged
every time. I'd put on him on a par with Titi with how awful of
a signing he's been.

Bearing in mind I expected to see the Harry Williams who was the
most penalised prop in the league before he left for France.
He's been fine - he's conceded 7 penalties in 10 matches in the
league (about 500 minutes of rugby). Agreed he's not given us
much in the loose which has been very disappointing.
For comparison, Baxter's conceded 6 penalties in 6 matches
(about 400 minutes)

I know age is not the be all and end all, but it would be lovely
to see us sign some 24-29 year olds rather than 30-35 year olds
if and when we do get around to some recruitment. I know we need
experience too, but we've signed too many players past their
prime during recent recruitment drives and I'd much rather have
the "experience" of a 26 year old who is frequently at the heart
of winning efforts than a 32 year old with two shot knees just
for the sake of the international caps they clocked up 4-5
seasons ago.
Strongly agreed, and the Dunn signing is encouraging for that
reason. I forget their ages and careers up to the point but the
off-season in which we picked up Lawday and Evans was great
business to emulate. Both great Prem squad players and WEv has
been far more than that at times, too. If Spokes can't repeat
previous victories like those his role must be considered...

Yeah but 'Dun' doesn't look like you're done writing the name
out.
Adding an extra N just makes it feel finnished, ya know ;)

As of November last at signing, Dun (J) had only played 57 times
for Bristol in his 9 years at the club and clearly second
string. Definitely a WEv type gamble. But knowing our luck......

If its Quins they've probably made a typo, meaning they've
signed up Brooks & Dunn for TBG
