Frustrating watch. Got ourselves back in it and lost the
basics. Starting to get the feeling that Chis might have taken
them as far as he can as this is happening a bit too often for a
squad that strong.

Bit of a familiar story for both mens and women’s teams, coming
up against a better coached side, and the basic skills breaking
down, handling and tackling in particular.

I don’t think they were a better coached side. Lightning’s key
players combined better than Quins’, but their defence wasn’t
anything great, their scrum was under pressure until the
replacements came on and their lineout and mail were
inconsistent.
The Kildunne YC cost Quins, but the real coach killer was the
timing of passes in the red zone. We had our 3rd choice scum
half passing to players running onto the ball and the timing was
off, meaning that players got the ball late and weren’t in
control when they took contact.
If those passes had been better timed, there’s a very good
chance Quins would have won. Although Ms Poorfour Mi still
maintains that we should have used the wide channels more.

We have a better squad player for player than Loughborough but
they appear to have a game plan, where we don’t, and seem to be
a collection of individuals playing as individuals or being more
charitable just trying to move the ball out to the wide
channels.
They had a plan and it showed, that to me is better coached,
giving up penalties and yellow cards is also a coaching issue,
also the amount of missed tackles and dreadful defence is a
coaching issue.
I don’t want to sack the coaches, just for them to realise where
it is going wrong and correct it, which they are fully capable
of.
Better season than last year, but could do better, but there are
lots of players developing, but we need a bit more of a
pragmatic playing style sometimes, which is the coaches job.

Quins could really do with someone (i.e. a winger) who has
serious pace.
Once Loughborough broke the like we were in trouble. It was the
same with Sarries last week.

We have wingers with pace.....
At the start of the season we were told that our 7s players from
last year were committed to Quins this season. Today 3 of them
are playing for GB 7s in the latest comp. All 3 should be
involved in the squad imo. Why keep signing them up if they are
never available.
