Lot of surprisingly negative commentary bearing in mind that
England really went for it and were within an inch of winning.

If they'd actually built on the progess of the last 12 months
during this 6N they probably would have beaten France
comfortably. They still conceded nearly 50 points, although I
blame that mostly on Borthwick's random decision to put
Wigglesworth in charge of defence.
In many respects it was a great effort with some great rugby,
but they lack a certain nous and clear thinking in terms of
actually winning a game.

I just can't understand where that team performance was for 4 of
the other games?
England actually looked like they gave a fig.
Baffling.

The winners of the 6N have just conceded 96 points in two games.
This championship broke last year’s record for number of tries
scored. Yesterday’s 3 games had 28 tries; only Scotland and
Italy didn’t get TBPs yesterday and they each got 3 tries.
Defence has been optional recently.

Oh but its exciting rugby that the public want to see,
apparently....

“We just need to attack the game “ quote by Itoje was quite
telling, surprised that something so obvious to most of us has
taken so long to sink in.

Refreshing to see England play a way reflective of the style of
play in the prem rather than leaning too hard into kick and
rush.
The problem is entirely in the top two inches. Discipline is a
big issue and decision making to close games out poor two games
in a row now. They need to find a way of balancing more of the
freedom we saw yesterday and pragmatism and clear thinking when
it's needed.
Not sure that correcting the mental edge is in Borthwick's
locker and it's going to stop the team progressing.

It might not be popular but England's contestable kicking game
was mostly successful for the first 60 mins and gave a platform
for the attacking game. Murley excelled in that.
We then lost a few contests late and gave them more
opportunities in possession and they were clinical. Fine margins

Spencer was taken off after 60 minutes, again.
The POM squad forwards came on for the last 5 minutes - again.
It is almost as if Boredom has a rigid plan.

Spencer coming off really hurt us. JVP repeatedly dithered at
the base and two or three times went himself when it wasn't on.
