We played with fewer men because we gave away too many cynical
penalties.
If Genge had not pulled the maul down, France would have scored,
yes.
But they might have missed the conversion.
And would not have had the extra man at the start of the second
half - letting them score two tries more while he was off.
And there was no way he was getting away with that in the TMO
age.

I think tonight's effort was just the culmination of a few weeks
of anger and frustration at being useless for 3 games on the
bounce. The defence is still ropey as heck and players still
make stupid choices under pressure.

Shame Fin Smith's goal kicking was cross. Pollock made to look a
bit of a pillock
Good to see England trying to play for a change. I hope it's not
another false dawn, but suspect it will be

We were let down by discipline of the forwards.
A yellow card, and at the end a high tackle and a deliberate
knock on by Maro. Also, conversion kicking was poor.

The "high" tackle was an insane call. I've never seen anything
like it and probably won't again.

Really hard to say without seeing the other angle as there could
well be a swinging arm or something.
Anyway it was weird that Maro then decided to deliberately knock
it on before spending ages trying to force the ref to march him
back 10 - did he have a flutter on Ireland winning the 6N?

I've just seen a clip of big Trev making a head on head tackle
before the ref called it - I think the TMO told him and the
timing coincided with clip I posted above, so fair call
probably.
