Perhaps he deserves an England call up or is he too skilful

for us. Now Bath are replacing an EQP with a seemingly
permanently injured South African. He’s managed 2hrs of Prem
Rugby this season.

I’m guessing Bath can’t fit Barbeary in the cap? DdP is
presumably much cheaper.

It's not the cost that Yareet is questioning; it's the fact that
DdP is "permanently" injured.

I don’t mean to speak for Yareet but I’m pretty certain Yareet
is questioning why Bath would go for DdP over Barbeary. Yareet
doesn’t appear to be questioning the fact DdP is permanently
injured. In fact, it seems to me that Yareet ventured that
‘fact’.

No, that's the point. I don't think I expressed myself very
well.
Why would Bath replace Barbeary with a sicknote? That's what's
strange. 2 years ago fine but now?

They would replace him with a sick note because the sick note is
considerably cheaper. And as JG pointed out, he’s likely been
recruited as a rotational/backup player so they probably hope to
manage his injuries a little better.

In fact, the more I think about it, it’s not strange at all.
It’s perfectly in line with Baths recruitment strategy. They
target players they perceive to be good value. DdP’s stock is
low right now, so they can sign him cheap. Then get more out of
him than Sale did.

Well, ask Yareet why it's strange, then.
Edit: I also forgot the EQP bit but I don't think that will
bother you because you haven't mentioned it either. 🙂

I actually meant I’d expect DdP to be on decent wedge. Before
the Bath rumours, the accepted wisdom was somewhere in France
like his brothers. They’re all very close and living in each
other’s pockets seems to suit them.
If Bath are binning off Barbeary to pay T14 money for an non-EQP
player, that would be strange.
However, it may be that Dan’s injury record this season has
reduced his market value.

Binning off is probably not quite right. Saracens were torpedoed
by the loss of their mercenary despite having the money to burn
and needed someone with that skillset, so it's likely they're
offering more than Bath feel Barbeary is worth. Works for both
clubs really.
