It makes you wonder if he gets the cold sweats even thinking
about losing but going down in flames.

It is the same for a deliberate knock on though.
If you deliberately knock it and it doesn't go forwards, then
play on. (I seem to remember Ramjet getting away with it once as
he patted it and it went straight downwards.)
The wise choice though is to just not do it.
Basically, when you already have one in the bin, then this is
the time to be squeaky clean.

it's not a surprise this England team is struggling. I don't
think Borthwick is capable of getting us to play any decent
winning rugby, which considering the players at his disposal
compared to other nations is unforgivable.

It's been reported that Robertson has a "no compete" clause in
his separation meaning he can't coach for a Tier 1 country for
at least a year after he left NZ.

We might not be a Tier 1 country soon.

I guess that depends on your definition of "decent, winning
rugby".
Edit: On second thoughts, I'd say it's pretty undeniable that he
has been capable of getting England to play winning rugby.

I see tickets are available for the autumn internationals.
Tickets for the NZ game range from £103 to £238. Not sure who
will be paying that to watch this side.

In Itoje's case the direction of the ball is immaterial. Under
the new global law trial 16.18 you cannot reach out and play the
person trying to play the ball away.
In order to leave a maul, you need to unbind and retreat behind
the hindmost foot and then come forward.
You cannot play the "nine" from within the maul.
It used to be that if you were on your feet and legally bound
in, you could use a free arm to play the nine, without
retreating, but 16.18 closes that loophole.

Was the previous good form down to Blackett who doesn’t seem to
be involved now.

I think Englands success prior this tournament was a big
misleading. His tactics are horrendous and for the pool of
talent we have, neither the coaches or SB can make them gel.
Maybe against France all of a sudden we will decide to stop
kicking aimlessly hoping for a 50/50 chance of getting the ball
back but I doubt it.
It was clear that luck would eventually run out or dealt with
better...and it has

Can anyone think of an England coach who has turned around a
dogcack run of games, such as this current one, this far into
their tenure?
Reading Ben Earl's comments makes me think nothing significant
will change in terms of game philosophy and tactics, assuming
what he said is representative of the squad as a whole.
