I think what we're look for in the short term is someone who can
get the team believing in themselves and the team again. A sort
of Dean Richards without being Dean Richards. If Gatland can do
that and the process reinvigorates our coaches, then it could be
a worth while exercise. Deano had very little to do with the day
to day coaching of the team, but somehow his being there helped
them become a championship team (yes, I know he was gone by
       then).

Yeah, sorry FishQuin, it's good you challenge my negativity on
this possible appointment but I've seen nothing in how he sets
teams up that matches the talent we have or the style of play we
want. If he's bringing Dan Biggar with him to play 10, then I
see it but even with the Lions, it was so turgid and kick, kick
       bloody kick.
It might benefit Waghorn as he likes big strong centres and I
doubt he'll play Northmore at 12 but he is very much a "my way
or the highway" kind of person and he may well cause more long
term damage by alienating players who challenge him.
I'd rather we just muddled through the rest of the season than
make a bad appointment. Hopefully the board are seeing the
comments on social media and understanding this won't be a
       popular appointment.

Assuming that we are looking for both a DOR and a Head Coach . .
       .
Then - I reckon that Gatland could be a good choice as a DOR. He
probably has all the media training, etc. and probably talks a
       good fight.
But - I wouldn't choose him as a Head Coach. I think that his
       coaching days are behind him.

He said later on that he'd had no clue what state Welsh rugby
       was in.

Bad at the chiefs, bad with the last Lions stint he did, and bad
       with Wales 2nd time around.
But if you're one of those who believes Quins need an attitude
readjustment and are pining for Cockerill or Diamond, then this
is a good option. I can see how it might work, but personally I
don't love the idea especially given the other names in the mix.

This is actually a great point. If true about Gatland, hopefully
he can build some very solid foundations. we've all said we need
a total rebuild. Who knows, he may even get to grips with our
       recruitment strategy...

I think Goode may have said "I want more than one meal"...
       through a mouthful of pie.

Maybe he’s coming in as DOR, and will bring in a new head coach
As for “ Quins style “ of late that appears to be throw away a
lead, get beaten up by teams we expect to beat, and up our game
for Sarries and the occasional European game, maybe that’s what
“ We are true “ means
But frankly it would appear that while we wanted rid of Wilson
he wasn’t the problem, and we cry for a new coach/DOR and
whoever gets suggested isn’t “ Quins style “

Given that Wilson was the creator of that "style", I'd push back
       on that interpretation.

As has been pointed out, the type of rugby Gatland has been
associated with, especially with the Lions, I’m not sure it fits
the non negotiable Quins DNA style we all love to watch. If
you’re going to go on past glories why don’t we get Sir Clive in
as he’s won a World Cup.
