The Hindustan Times rugby correspondent is reporting that Marcus
was seen talking to Dawn French at a charity do in London last
month. Done deal.

The main reason to go to France is for the money.
(In fact - there is absolutely no other reason to go there at
all.)
He is already a marquee player here.
So, he would need to find a club that was willing and able to
offer him a bigger marquee wage.
He would lose any England earnings.
You have to remember as well that the Top 14 is very
attritional.
Me may be lucky and find a club who are willing to pay him more.
But, he would also be more at risk of injury.
Some clubs do not treat injured overseas players very well.
I think the situation is a lot different for someone like
Collier. He wasn't in the England squad and he was basically
seen as just a squad player for us. He has moved to a region
where scrummaging is everything and props are the poster boys of
the club.

merely highlighting that Jammers is not spot on 100% of the
time. Only 99.9% of the time.

I'm not sure what bit you thought he got wrong. That article
wasn't about Marcus's interest in France but Racing's interest
in him.

I know you pedantic old keyboard cruncher but although I cant be
arsed to dig any deeper, I clearly remember Marcus being seen
either at Racing or at least with Racing bods. He was open to
the suggestion 3 years ago so it won't require him to throw a
strop to look at it again.
Knee-weigh, I'm off to watch the T20 World Cup now.

Many players speak highly if the lifestyle and the environment
too.
Although I appreciate some would say the same about London...
Assuming they haven't been stabbed or had their phone stolen.
Rugby is attritional full stop. Players need to consider that
when they are at their peak for earnings. And a couple of
hundred thousand per year on a 3 or 4 year contract is very
persuasive.

Only reason to go to France is the money? Food, wine,
countryside, culture, new experience?
Any player assessing their options is not "having a strop". The
only player in recent years who actually has had a strop is
mercer.
Rather see fin smith start than ford. Getting rather bored of
the hyperbole surrounding Ford's pretty average displays.

Unless I've misunderstood, the thrust of the argument seems to
be that Smith should be first choice 10. Given he's not then
perhaps he needs to consider cashing in his chips and giving up
on England altogether - at least for a couple of years.
Is that about right?

The phrase wasn't just "throw a strop", it was "throw a strop
and try to qualify for France"
