Stand out performances from Randall at 9 Roots at 6, Domborant
8, Carpenter at 15 was very good too. Ireland looked second
best, worrying depth for the Irish moving forward

I can't help but wonder if Ireland are on a bit of similar
trajectory to Wales. Not as disastrous, perhaps, and they don't
have a union that's suicidal, but like Wales they seem to have
relied on a small group of really good players for too long, and
now those players are aging and no longer performing as well,
they haven't go the back-up.
The Ireland A were weak, the Ireland U20s got spanked by France,
and of course the main Ireland team got spanked, too.
Might just be a hiccup but it's hard to see where their strength
is right now.

Perhaps they both need to get a load more southern hemisphere
players in with eligibility for their nations.

I think the cracks have been visible for Ireland for a year or
so, but have been papered over by good performances when they
have had most of their key players. They are now having to bring
through the next generation, and they are not the right players
to continue the gameplay. The test of Farrell will be whether he
can adapt with 18 months to go til RWC27...
