I wouldn't say a freebie. He's been one of the seasons top 8s,
and I think deserves crack, it wouldn't be like giving a debut
just for the sake of it as such and it would be good to see
alternatives at 8 ahead of the RWC, although he wouldn't make
the bench over Pollock. I think Pollock is best atm as a bench
option game changer as his energy could be more useful in the
60m mark onwards. I'm just trying to avoid a scenario where
after a few injuries he's making his debut against France in a
grand slam decider

Fair enough - think if it was that desperate we'd just start
Curry at 8 or recall Dombrandt or something like that. To me it
does just feel like holding Pollock back too much to let a kid
leapfrog him.
Then again I'm not sure if Fisilau is a long term option for
England at 8 and I'm also not really sure why I think that

Why the 2026 Six Nations Kicks Off on a Thursday?
For the first time in the Six Nations era, the championship will
begin on Thursday 5 February 2026, instead of the traditional
Saturday opening.
The change is down to a mix of global scheduling pressures,
broadcast priorities, and the wider sporting calendar.
Avoiding a Clash With the 2026 Winter Olympics
The biggest reason why the 2026 Six Nations kicks off on a
Thursday is to avoid competing with the Winter Olympics.
The Milan–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics opening ceremony takes
place on Friday 6 February, the day after the Six Nations
opener. Broadcasters wanted to ensure rugby’s biggest annual
tournament didn’t lose attention to one of the world’s largest
sporting events.

Super Saturday is 14th March

I would rather that they either started with a "Super Saturday"
- - or played 2 games on Saturday and one on Sunday.
I don't like the idea of Thursday night matches. It makes it
virtually impossible for travelling fans as you have to take 2
days off work rather than just one.
However, I do appreciate that it will be popular with French TV
companies as it doesn't conflict with any other big sporting
events and will therefore bring in plenty of cash.

The Rugby Bunker pod (highly recommended) was saying the
Thursday game is likely a one-off, thankfully

Seems to be a request by ITV so they're not up against the BBC's
winter Olympics coverage. It's odd, but I'm quite pleased to
have some rugby tomorrow evening to watch.

ITV will (I guess) have very little say about a game played in
Paris between France and Ireland.
I’d imagine the French broadcaster will have made the request.

Guess all you will.

I'm not entirely convinced it's down to ITV. The fixtures and
reason for the Thursday night start were well publicised months
ago. ITV were never mentioned. Until today. That seems weird.
But weird things happen, I suppose.
