The best shirt we've ever had in many years was the Adidas 150th
one.
The gear in general has gone downhill severely over the last 10
years or so. I used to pop into the shop on a match day and buy
the odd bit. Now it's boring generic crap that costs an arm and
a leg or poor quality plastic "replica" shirts 🙄

I second this. We used to have a bit of thought in terms of
design...now it's just a production of forgettable lines which
are easily transferable to any number of clubs with a click of a
button for the logo.

My Kooga 2008/09 shirt is still in brilliant shape. They don't
make them like that any more.

For the playing kit? Not sure I agree with that. Put another
way, looking specifically at the playing kit, I kind of think
you could remove any reference to the manufacturer over the last
15+ years and it would be hard to say who made it. They're
working with quarters; there's only so much they can do

The current retro quarters shirt seems pretty good to me.
It hasn't fallen to bits, faded or gone out of shape after
washing it.
(I am a bit concerned that I am not just agreeing with the
general view that everything is boring an rubbish recently, and
that there may be some ICE agents showing up at my front door in
a few minutes.)

Maybe not quite the player kit, but virtually everything outside
of that is the generic stuff. Even then though, the playing kit
isn't as good in general from years gone by. Essentially Castore
entirely deserve their shoddy reputation

I'm genuinely not just being difficult here but accusation you
make there about design could also have been levelled at Adidas'
non-playing kit. So then it's only about quality and having worn
a lot of it (and used it for warmups/training) the Castore kit
holds up just as well.
And I do see the irony that it's me saying that the Quins kit is
alright. 😉

FWIW, Ms Poorfour Maj trains and plays in last season’s pro kit
for Worthing College (they used to be the Quins Centre of
Excellence and still have strong links) and - for someone who is
very picky about kit - has no complaints.
