Yeah - that is how I read it too - "How dare the retail manager
try to make money selling a hoodie when the head coach is doing
       such a poor job" :-)
The criticism that the shop often gets is that there is too
little variety in the merch. Having "varsity" ranges, etc,
       addresses this.
Personally, I would like to see "office-wear".
I also support a French Pro-D2 team (ASBH) and I have some
really nice smart white work-shirts from their store. If Quins
sold anything like those, then I would be in the front of the
       queue.
For me, I am not going to buy one of these hoodies. Nothing
against them, but basically, I don't need yet another hoodie.
(In the same way that I am not going to buy training shorts or
       golf tees.)
But, I'm sure some will buy them and the shop will make some
       money out of them.

It's not good merch and it's fair to be critical of that. I do
find that the constant sniping over things like the social media
presence to be tiresome, though. They're just doing their jobs
and they have nothing to do with the running of the team.

Can't speak to anyone else, but I'm just making a joke about how
boring I think the hoodies are. It's not a jab at the club or at
people who choose to buy them. It just seemed a bit of a
contrast between "black hoody with tiny white text" and the
whole concept of a "harlequin". No more than that. If you can't
joke about trivial things, you're going to get very upset as a
       fan of anything.

Not good merch by what criterion, though? "I don't personally
like it" is not a good criterion. "It's not well made and falls
apart after a couple of washes" might be, but I doubt anyone can
speak from experience on that at this stage.
But the reason they're launching this stuff is going to be that
they've done their market research and identified demand for it
       - even if it's not demand from regular CAW posters. In the grand
scheme of the club we are a tiny minority of the supporter base
and a lot of what the club does is trying to appeal to the
majority of fans who are not us.

       We could just ask - - -
@MQ was this thread meant to be a snipe at the club?

       As a direct answer no.
Along with a few on here, and quite a few on other social
platforms, have expressed dismay at the latest offering where
most things by Castore have been dull, and very unquins like (in
       my view).
I'm not sure if the club sign off on potential lines before they
are created, but I would be disappointed if someone who is a
Quin gave it the green light. I fully understand the need for
various merch lines, but for God sake - put some effort into
them before asking for people to spend £60 on a £5 hoody which
could easily say "Saracens" on or another generic template

You're taking an awful lot on faith there poorfour.
Anyway it's not good merch because it's a) extremely plain, b)
very expensive for what it is, and c) the merchandising aspect
of it is a tiny logo and text
It's extremely low effort stuff being sold at a premium and it's
actually okay and normal to be critical of these things as a
consumer rather than immediately trying to position this as some
       sort of marketing masterstroke

It does however have my board's username written in big letters
in Latin on the back though

I’m not sure how specific to Castore the lack of colour is. A
lot of the Adidas kit was essentially plain black
