I don't think the academy is the problem. It's what we do with
the players that come out of it.

Agree, and the current crisis is making us play them, which is a
good thing, a couple of prem cup games does not prepare players,
and that has been the story for the last couple of seasons.
Also lets you identify who has got it and who hasn’t, and
hanging on to players who don’t have the potential.

That's kind of what we needed, though. A performance and an end
to a losing streak. Yes, the opposition was weak, but so was
Gloucester when we played them, and they thrashed us. Morale is
what the club needed.
Of course, if we're spanked next week, it'll be quickly
forgotten.

Can only beat what's in front of us and we were a lot better
this week in the face of that.
The points being made about the academy are here in are on the
right lines. If this season sees Friday, Carr (who reminds me of
a French style number 7), Hobson, and Elliott Williams emerge as
key players for us, all will not have been lost.

The way we played and defended, does mean something, a will
perhaps give some much needed confidence, the competition is not
taken seriously by the majority of teams, only seems the non
South African URC teams are that interested.

There was just a great amount of pure graft in everything they
did, particularly the off the ball stuff. I can't remember
seeing us defend like that before either - not happy with just
tackling but so often they kept driving through the tackle and
shunting the player back and making the contact area more of a
mess for the Stormers. Well done players and coaches.
